A stroll through Vientiane in Laos with the COPE visitor center
Today I take you with me to the great big city of Vientiane through the state of Laos situated on the border with China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.
Laos has the dubious honor of being the most heavily bombed country in the world, and even the American war in neighboring Vietnam had ended more than 40 years ago, people are still being injured and killed by unexploded ordnance (UXO). Here the COPE Cooperative Orthotic & Prosthetic Enterprise is the primary source of prosthetics, walkers and wheelchairs in Laos. The award-winning visitor center, part of the organization's National Rehabilitation Center, offers a variety of interesting and informative multimedia exhibits about prosthetic devices and the unexploded ordnance that sadly necessitates them.
Many pictures are very shocking, after visiting, we sigh the importance of peace even more, very sad what happened.
Patuxai is a triumphal arch, the 49 meter high monumental building stands at the end of the Xang boulevard.
Have a Great day!
