Meet Count Mosquella: My Newest Character Sketch

image.png

I’ve been working on something a little fun and quirky, and I’m excited to finally share it with you all—Count Mosquella! This was just a quick sketch, inspired by none other than a mosquito (yes, really!), and it turned into something so much more. I couldn't resist adding a bit of personality to this little insect character, turning it into a sort of noble, aristocratic figure.

The Inspiration Behind Count Mosquella

You might be thinking, “Why a mosquito?” Well, I just liked the idea of taking something we usually swat away and giving it a whole new, unexpected twist. Mosquitoes have these delicate, long limbs and an almost otherworldly look when you really think about them—so why not turn that into a dapper, sophisticated figure? Enter Count Mosquella, complete with an oversized hat, sharp glasses, and a flowing, dramatic outfit that’s probably a little too fancy for everyday insect life.

A Quick Sketch, Full of Personality

This was meant to be a simple sketch, but once I added the glasses and that outfit, the character just started to take on a life of its own. Now, Count Mosquella feels like this eccentric, classy character who maybe spends their days lounging in the shade of a giant mushroom, sipping nectar from a teacup. Or maybe they're the guardian of a secret woodland society? Who knows—there’s definitely more to explore with this one!

Let me know what you think of Count Mosquella! Should I refine the design and build out their story a bit more? Drop your thoughts below, and make sure to follow along for more creative sketches and fun projects!
