The Dhanmondi Meanders ~ The Doggos Are Cute Af And An Unlikely Competition | With Friends - Part I
Hello, photography lovers. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share my adventure at Dhanmondi, a city with vibrant greenery and sports enthusiasts, with a few friends I had today.
Without further ado, let's begin.
We meet our Dhanmondi "bashindas" near the lake at 2:30 pm and go to a nearby restaurant after roaming 3 of our target regions, the primary one being the lake itself. The secondary one is a street vendor who sells fresh food, unlike the Indian ones. Lastly, we would end the day by visiting a popular restaurant in the region.
My friends and I reached Dhanmondi at 3:30 pm with no signs of our friends. We all are the same... fashionable late. They took this fashion to new heights.
That's when we decided to explore the park before they arrived and truth be said: I, absolutely loved it.
A smooth breeze swept by almost all the time, you could see it through the waves at the lake. I wanted to see if we could have a boat and row by but all I saw was the hut-like building at the edge of the lake.
We walked by and observed how festivity was brewing around the place. Many of these hut-like places were installed and people with guitars would sing their hearts out with sad songs... one of the worst things a girl can do is break the heart of a singer. All he would do for the next few years was make songs about her and his growing sadness.
We also saw kids play in the safety of the vacant lot just beside the lake. They were good at it.
And in the distance, we saw a couple, most likely foreigners, rowing by and enjoying the cool breeze.
And the anomaly in the place. They were playing Badminton which is usually played in the cold season here. They were bullying the guy on the other side.
We walked by to more places as our friends were still late. And, this bridge reminded me of the time I once crossed with Regan and Erfan a year ago. We came with Regan's varsity friends group which was extremely amazing. The worst part about this bridge is the random wobbling. I walked fast and crossed it while the guys continued to laugh at me for panicking.
After walking around for over half an hour without seeing the other friends, I asked for a delicious ice cream treat. This is called a kulfi, a Persian-originated dessert that still thrives in almost every vendor's storage.
That's when we heard water splashing. I turned around and found a few kids were jumping off the bridge. I was a bit late to capture them mid-air and didn't think I could get them to do it again. As we crossed the bridge, I found other people who also had their cameras aimed at the kids.
That's when I found out that they were being paid to make that jump. Who paid them? A professional photographer with what looked like an expensive DSLR-type camera. He asked them to dive over and over again, maybe he wasn't getting the perfect angle which allowed me to get this pic, a well-timed mid-air picture where the kid kicked the ball with his injured leg before hitting the water.
It was well past afternoon and finally, 2 of them showed up out of 3. So, we headed back the other way around. That's when I found this amazing spot, a little clean spot for roller-skaters and skateboarders. They jumped off the orange bag as a "trick", a safe one deemed by most parents.
And just before leaving, I met this cute doggo. The most beautiful creature I had seen in a while. I didn't ask for its name as my friends and I were starving at this point. How? None of us had lunch, and I didn't even have breakfast.
And so, we navigated through the streets of Dhanmondi and made our way to the nearest BFC as the sun was setting. I suggested Manhatten Fish Market but one of them had a bad experience with their food.
The seats were available and we were not allowed to play Uno for some reason. This went for other places as well. But, we did have a great meal. This time, we had chicken pops. which was 30 little balls of crispy meat. Then, I knew why that lady friend was obsessed with them.
Sadly, one of our friends had to leave due to his tuition. The kid's parents called him for the demo class he was scheduled to do today.
After that, we went to the second spot of the day. This famous place rarely has its seats empty and somehow we got a few options. I chose the seat, it was under a street lamp and overall very bright. We had their signature food: "belpuri" and lemon mint. Belpui is a small chip-shaped tortilla fried to a crisp and a vegetable mix with potato as the dominant additive is poured within the hole you make from the top of the crisp.
I was relieved to find that I did not have acidity afterward. We hopped on to another shop that also provided belpuris but had 3 different flavors of sour. They were spicy, sweet sour, and sweet and spicy. We got a "fuchka" and belpuri with a combination of the 3 flavors and waited for our friend to return.
And that's the first part of the adventure. The next part of this adventure falls under the culinary section of Hive. I hope you liked the scenery and lively environment of Dhanmondi. See you all on the next adventure!
