I Have Reached Diamond I ! | The Game Is Getting Better And So Are The Opposition | Social Media Challenge X Splinterlands
Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you are doing well today.
After quite some time I have finally ascended to Diamond League.
But, this was in last week. Today, I have a rating of 3500, reaching almost Champions League III. I only need 200 more, meaning 6-7 battles away from going to the Champions League. And boy am I ecstatic. I also loved how we can buy the gladius cases with the glint, since my faction went dormant about 8 months ago this change was very beneficial to me. Now, I can finally get some bloodthirsty monsters and battle harder. And yes, I spent quite a lot of Dec after converting from sps to rent some monster cards that I used to have last year. Most of these monsters have been moved to the Wild Format, hence I stuck with it. I haven't moved much in the standard format though. I try to reach a 1000 rating in the standard format.
The battle I am about to show is in the Diamond I league reaching to Champions League.
So, without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 59 and there are 4 summoners available: Fire, Nature, Life, and Death. For such a high mana cap, any summoner could be used to make a mighty deck. I used the fire summoner as the battle rules would favor this summoner the most.
Battle Rules:-
- Melee Mayhem: Melee attack monsters can attack from any position.
- Fog of War: Monsters lose snipe, opportunity, and sneak abilities.
Battle Details
Let's start from my side:
Summoner: Tarsa(Ability: Increase in HP and Melee Attacks by 1 for all ally monsters).
Tank: Forgotten One(Ability: Immunity).
Melee Attackers: Charlok Minotaur(Ability: True strike), Mantaroth(Ability: Shield, Armored Strike), Disintegrator(Ability: Demoralize), Ferox Defender(Ability: Protect).
Ranged Attacker: Firecaller(Ability: Martyr).
My strategy was to use all the strong melee attackers and best the opponent in an all-out brawl. I kept Forgotten One in the front as it had the highest HP with shield, that way it could withstand at least the first round. I wanted to use another melee attacker but I realized that attack alone would not help me win. I decided to use a failsafe, a stat booster on my only attacker who would not miss(Minotaur) so I kept Firecaller in front of Minotaur. I assumed that he might use a monster with shatter ability, this is why I kept Mantaroth in the middle, that way it could use its shield to strike the enemy till it comes over in the first position. I used Disintegrator to reduce his melee attacks by 1. That way, Mantaroth's shield ability would further reduce the incoming melee damage. And finally, I kept Ferox in the back, that way all the monsters would get its shield to increase their ability till he gets taken out.
My overall damage per round is 17. Adding in the damage from the shield of Mantaroth, and the damage buff from the summoner it comes to 27 damage per round. Once Firecaller dies, the damage decreases to 25 per round.
Now, for the opposition:
Summoner: Franz Ruffmane(Ability: Increase in shield damage by 1 for all ally monsters. Allowing the use of 1 gladiator monster in the deck).
Tank: Drybone Barbarian(Ability: Enrage).
Melee Attackers: Dumacke Orc(Ability: Shield), Imperial Knight(Ability: Void Shield).
Dual Attacker: Drybone Raider(Ability: Double Strike).
Ranged Attackers: War Pegasus(Ability: Flying, Shatter), Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr).
His strategy was also to use his melee attackers to the highest degree. He used Drybone as a tank since it had an ability for which its overall stats would increase and would attack right after. His Dumacke had the shield ability, that way, the overall melee damage received would be reduced by half. His Imperial Knight had an overall HP of 14 making it the highest in the game, that way his other ranged monster in the back would be able to hit for at least 1 extra round. Lastly, he wanted his overall damage to be level, that's why he used Marksrat in front of Raider. Once the martyr kicks in, the double strike would make the overall damage dealt by Raider to 4.
His overall damage per round is 18. Adding in the damage after Marksrat dies, it comes to 20 per round.
Major Events
And finally, at the end of the 6th turn, the battle ends with Manratoth delivering judgment for the last time.
Results
It was a given that I would win since his overall damage was nowhere near as high as mine. I was surprised to see how the monsters in his tank's position could keep up after a round. Although, several times, my Disintegrator and Ferox missed their mark. Regardless, his monsters acted the way I foresaw and thus my strategy was better than his at every step.
