A Surprise Birthday Treat ~ It’s Not My Birthday… | The Burger Lab Series

Hello, foodies of Hive. I hope you all are doing well today.

Today, I will share a small treat I had had which I did not expect to receive. It was from a friend who rarely comes out to meet since he is always busy with work or projects.

Without further ado, let’s start!

How The Day Started

My day started with my usual morning walk of the neighborhood, it's pretty quiet and has cool weather that is perfect for me. I'm not too fond of heat as I tend to bathe in my own sweat. This was early in the morning, at around 6 am. After walking for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, I return home. That's when the sun comes out.

After I'm back home, I make a small breakfast and then carry out my usual tasks and play some games.

Then, I get a call from this hooman. After tagging me in their social media post, he asked me to come to Burger lab. I asked if there would be anyone else, and he said no. I got a bit curious but didn't think of much, I assumed that he wanted a usual meet-up. Let me write a little stuff about him. He is an extremely talented individual with a plethora of accolades in the field of business. He participates in business competitions and comes ever so close to being first. An amazing human overall so him being able to give me time is truly precious.

I did not know yet but Burger Lab had moved their restaurant further outside from where I live. This was in the late afternoon. And the best bit about this was that the restaurant's interior was black, even the air-conditioner!

He asked which burger I wanted the most and he would get the same one. I chose a small one since I had lunch an hour ago and asked for a chicken cheese burger with a soft drink. There were 3 options: Coke, 7Up, Fanta; both of us went with Fanta.
Unbeknownst to me, he got up and went straight for the counter... leaving my hand with the money in the air.

That's when he told me that this was his Birthday treat in advance. I say it was a cheeky surprise but I don't have many friends that would give me a treat without them announcing it after their birthday... this guy just took a special spot in my friends list.
That's also when he told me that his final exams were coming and he would not be able to treat me afterwards since he had other plans.

The burger itself was good apart from the fact that most burger joints in this area and maybe even international chains have reduced their burger size... "inflation" they accuse.
The taste was good, the buttery underside with the sauzy patty was good. The only drawback was the amount of sauce they add. They should really provide more patty with bun size.

We chatted for about 2 hours before we ran out of things to say XD... a normal event for guys. We left just after half an hour and thanked him for the rpe-birthday treat.

I bid him farewell and waved goodbye as I walked in the direction of my house, his was on the other side. And so, I didn not need to have dinner as it was enough to get me through the night.
