Happy π Day
Hi,
today we have the PI day, or better written π, to respect the Greeks who brought us this wonderful knowledge.
As a coincidence, today is the birthday of Albert Einstein, one man whom I admire most, not only for his research, but for his grit, despite what life has thrown at him.
He did not speak till late, at his time in Munich, and people told his parents that he has problems and that he will never make it.
When he wanted to join the university, ETH (the world-famous university from Zürich), he failed, not because of mathematics and physics. He finished high-school at another school and retried, and got it, being a brilliant student.
Long story short, he moved from Zürich to Berlin, where he had to give up everything in 1933, just because he was a Jewish descendant. Having a stein (stone) at the end of the name, pulled one mostly back in those tragic times.
He moved to the USA and started from scratch and continued to delivery science. The theory of relativity was published in 1905 in Annalen der Physik, a paper that is one of the oldest physics publication in Germany and the world.
Germany had a brilliant generation of minds in the late 1800 start of 1900, with Max Planck, who I say it is bigger than Einstein in terms of physics. He also helped Einstein, but could not do anything against the regime.
What I wanted to say is, that life is tough, it will throw stuff at us, that we will ask mostly why again and why me. Well, you are not the only one, we are all in this, everyone has his difficulties and challenges, the thing is how we approach them and how we deal with them.
I'm having now on a personal level a negotiation, where a lot of money is involved, and the counterpart accepted the initial offer, but submitted a contract with a different sum. We will sit at a discussion in the next days, and if they don't change back, I will simply walk away from it. I really need to close this deal, but will need to walk away if my conditions are not met. It takes grit and power to say no, and most great people whom I admire did follow their own way, despite the issues.
How about you? How do you tackle life and it's problems.
