Earth Day 2024

Hello,
Today is International Earth Day. I've chosen a picture of Lake Tegernsee because it's one of the places I love the most. The water, the air, the nature, everything in a beautiful and calm harmony. It is one of the most beautiful facets that the earth has to offer.
Even if many deny it, the earth is being destroyed by our greed. Although I am a very strong capitalist in terms of my convictions and lifestyle, I pay attention to a few things that are important to me. Not deliberately doing something negative to other people, destroying things senselessly, damaging the environment. Our planet is like our body, we only have one and we have to take good care of it. Unlike our body, we will pass this planet on to our children.
Everyone can do something to make things better. We humans make a lot of dirt through our consumption. A volcano may blow more CO2 into the atmosphere than the whole of humanity, but a volcano doesn't spew out plastic. Our family lives as environmentally consciously as possible. We have made a lot of changes to our lifestyle.
Some measures we have taken are that we buy almost no plastic clothing. We try to buy as much cotton clothing as possible and wear it until it breaks. We also pay attention to where the clothes come from and try to buy them from Europe wherever possible. Buying locally, without plastic, makes a big difference. As well as our clothes, we have also switched to eating local, organic produce. We also have a small vegetable patch in the garden. We have also changed our environment. The house has been insulated, the windows replaced and we have built two solar panels, one to heat the water and one to generate electricity. We repair most of the things that break and only throw away the things that can no longer be repaired. Such small changes can have a big impact on the environment.

Heute ist der internationale Tag der Erde. Dazu habe ich ein Bild mit dem Tegernsee ausgewählt, denn das ist einer der Orte, die ich am meisten liebe. Das Wasser, die Luft, die Natur, alles in einer schönen und ruhigen Harmonie. Es ist eine der schönsten Facetten, die die Erde zu bieten hat.
Auch wenn viele es leugnen, die Erde ist durch unsere Gier zerstört. Obwohl ich ein sehr starker Kapitalist bin, von der Überzeugung und der Lebensweise her, achte ich auf ein paar Dinge, die mir wichtig sind. Anderen Menschen nicht absichtlich etwas Negatives anzutun, Dinge sinnlos zu zerstören, die Umwelt zu schädigen. Unser Planet ist wie unser Körper, wir haben nur einen und wir müssen gut darauf aufpassen. Im Gegensatz zu unserem Körper werden wir diesen Planeten an unsere Kinder weitergeben.
Jeder kann etwas tun, um es besser zu machen. Wir Menschen machen durch unseren Konsum viel Dreck. Ein Vulkan bläst zwar mehr CO2 in die Atmosphäre als die ganze Menschheit, aber ein Vulkan spuckt kein Plastik aus. Unsere Familie lebt so umweltbewusst wie möglich. Wir haben viel an unserem Lebensstil geändert.
Einige Maßnahmen, die wir ergriffen haben, sind, dass wir fast keine Plastikkleidung mehr kaufen. Wir versuchen so viel wie möglich Kleidung aus Baumwolle zu kaufen und diese so lange zu tragen, bis sie kaputt geht. Wir achten auch darauf, woher die Kleidung kommt und versuchen, sie möglichst aus Europa zu kaufen. Lokal einkaufen, ohne Plastik macht einen großen Unterschied. Neben der Kleidung hat sich auch unsere Ernährung auf lokale Produkte, im Bioanbau, umgestellt. Wir haben auch eine kleine Gemüseecke im Garten. Wir haben auch unsere Umgebung verändert. Das Haus wurde isoliert, die Fenster erneuert und wir haben uns zwei Solaranlagen gebaut, eine für die Wassererwärmung und eine für die Stromerzeugung. Wir reparieren das meiste, was kaputt geht, und werfen nur das weg, was nicht mehr zu reparieren ist. Solche kleinen Veränderungen können einen großen Einfluss auf die Umwelt haben.

I don’t litter the environment with any piece of waste with me. And I implore others to pick up any dirt they throw around. It might be little, but still makes a difference.
