Being consistent in uncertain times

in the past years, I've learned to be humble and that the ego is my worst enemy. Still struggling to keep it under control, but it is better than ten years ago.

Two quotes from Charlie Munger, be consistently not stupid and avoiding stupidity is easier than seeking brilliance, made a big impact on my investment decisions. It is true, that we all are born without any knowledge and as time passes, we learn from experiences and books. Books being the shortcuts to experiences, as we learn from the trials and errors of others.

And being consistent means to learn daily and do the good habits on the daily matter. Avoiding stupidity is following every trend, getting into trades without basic knowledge and hanging around with morons. Avoid this if possible.

One thing that we started doing on a regular basis, is to clean out the house, and by cleaning I mean to dispose of unnecessary things, moving into a semi-minimalistic way of life, a little bit inspired by the Japanese culture. I love Japan, with their humbleness and way of approaching life. This is also used in investments. I like to keep it tidy, pick only seemingly good investments out. We sold the last year, the not performing real estate and this week did an exit of most shares. Will keep accumulating cash, as opportunities will arise due to the uncertain times. People will do stupid things and sell out of fear, even if the asset is performing well. Charlie Munger was a beast at buying undervalued assets. I watch their entire investment portfolio, and see that they are holding most of the value in cash. This is done mostly in heated markets, where assets are overvalued. Also, it is time to get out of an asset, if the normal folks, speak about it.

Now, coming back to consistency, will wait, maybe for a couple of months, to see how the market is moving. On real estate I also wait, to see how the interest rate is moving. There will be massive opportunities, one of the factors being the interest rate. In any case, beside having patience, consistency, humbleness, try not to be an asshole with others. It helps so much in life.
