The Battle Ruleset

Taking Sides: Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles.
Aim True: Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target.

This is a middle mana ruleset game and four color is available to play, which is the Water, Earth, Life and Death Splinters. This ruleset completely removes all the neutral monsters from the battle, so it is very difficult to create a proper team without their help.

The Aim True helps a bit to use slow monsters allowing them to hit their target without any problem, so it will be possible to use different tactics than usual. 😀

My Team Composition

Grandmaster Rathe is ana amazing summoner, but he is a bit pricey with his 6 mana cost in a 30 mana cap battle. I still choosed him, because he gives 2 different ability and one stat increase to all of his monsters.

The plus one armor is a huge help, because usually it will block a melee or ranged attack, but with the Void Armor ability his monsters are able to block a magic attack as well.

His Amplify is amazing if you have monsters with a reflect ability like the Thorns, Magic Reflect or the Return Fire, because it will increase their damage.

image.png

The Pelacor Conjurer is a very cheap monster with his two mana cost, so he is an easy fit for any battle, but he has an important ability, which is the Magic Reflect, which is a perfect counter against any magic attack monster.

image.png

The Vulguine was my seond tank, because he is also cheap and he has the Scavanger ability, so he will increase his own health by one if a monster dies on the battlefield.

image.png

The Time Mage as her name suggest is a magic attack monster and I used her because she has the Slow ability, which will reduce the speed of all the enemy monsters making my monsters to attack first.

image.png

Adelade Brightwing is a support monster, but she also has two magic damage as well. My main reason using her is her Protect ability, which will restore some armor on a friendly monster once per round and her Resurrect ability, which will Resurrect the first friendly monster back to life with one health.

She is an amazing combo with Grandmaster Rathe!

The Stitch Leech is a Sneak attack monster, which means that he will attack the last monster from the enemy team with his 3 melee attack, so if my opponent will bring a squishy monster in his backline he will get rid of them quickly.

image.png

The Duncan Exile has the same role like my Stitch Leech and both of them are more than enough to kill the enemy backline.

The Battle

My opponent picked Tyrus Paladium as his summoner with the same splinter like me and his cost is half compared to mine, but provide only one armor piece to all of his monsters and nothing else.

The enemy team had a lot of strong Sneak monster and the Silvershield Knight used his Inspire ability to further buff their melee attack, so the battle will be a very difficult one.

The first round started very badly, because I lost my Duncan Exile, but luckily my Adelade brought him back to life with one health.

In the second round I killed his Dhampir Infiltrator and I also lost my Exile again, but at least his Time Mage killed herself thanks to my Pelacor Conjurer.

The third round was much better, because my Stitch Leech used his speed difference and attacked his Stitch Leech first and killed him with one shot.

My two magic attack monster attacked under the enemy armors, which killed them easily. 😊

Do you like Taking Sides? Why or why not?

This ruleset is a special one, because I need to think a bit before the battle how to replace my usual neutral monsters and which splinter would be the best without any neutral monster.

Still I like this ruleset, because it is always good to use different strategies from the usual one.
