Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge with Earthquake

Earthquake Ruleset

image.png

Description:

All non-flying units take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn.

Snared units are considered non-flying. Since the damage given is physical, it can be reduced to 1 if the unit has the shield ability.

Using monsters with Flying or Heal is the trick for this ruleset, but if you are unable to choose such monsters, use monsters that have high HP and high damage. Don't keep heal units up front. Shield has a very important role. Using Brighton Bloom as summoner can help in this ruleset. Keep monsters with Flying in last positions when Earthquake has done enough damage to both sides.

The Battle Ruleset

Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
Tis but Scratches: All Monsters have the Cripple ability.

This is a middle mana ruleset game and almost every color is available to play, except the Water and Life Splinters. The Earthquake ruleset is quite a difficult one, because if you do not pay attention to it you might lose your monsters quickly. This ruleset means that all the monsters on the battlefield without the Flying ability will take two damage at the end of every round.

This can be easily avoidable if you use a monster with Flying ability or a Summoenr who provides this ability to all of his monsters.

The Tis but Scratches ruleset will decrease the maximum health of the target monster by one with every attack that was succesfully made against it. 😀

My Team Composition

image.png

Brighton Bloom is the key summoner for the Earthquake ruleset, because she gives the Flying ability to all of her monsters, so it is not necessary to bring Flying monsters and you will be able to setup a team of your liking without suffering from the Earthquake damage.

image.png

The Djinn Chwala is a very good tank who is a Dragon Splinter monster, because he has the ability to reflect 2 damage back to his melee attackers and on the other hand he has a lot of health and armor to sustain as much damage as possible.

image.png

Thane Newsong is one of the new reward card, so it is 'quite' easy to acquire him on higher level if you play the game continously. I used him to buff up my two melee attack monster attack by one using his Inspire ability and he is quite good to use him as an off tank.

image.png

The Mycelic Slipspawn is a rare magic attack creature with Taunt ability from level one and his cost nine mana.

His ability is very useful, because she will soak up all the incoming damage from the enemy team

image.png

I used the Dhampir Stalker to Sneak up close to my opponent last monster in his backline and kill them quickly.

She has the Double Strike ability, which means that she can attack twice in the same round dealing a lot of damage, which will be increased by the Inspire ability on my Thane.

image.png

The Mushroom Seer cost only 5 mana and he has two magic attack t odamage his target. The Silence on him makes this monster truly amazing, because he will reduce the magic attack of the enemy monsters by one.

The Supply Runner is a six mana ranged attack monster with two attack damage. He has the Swiftness ability, which will increase the speed of all of his friendly mosnters, which will give them extra chance to dodge the incoming melee and ranged attacks and also make them faster to attack their target.

The Battle

My strategy was to try to take advantage of Brighton Bloom's ability to give the Flying ability to all of my monsters and to avoid that two Earthquake damage in every round.

My opponent brought Immortalis from the Earth Splinter who is very good against the magic attack monsters. Luckily I brought some melee attack monsters as well and they were completely unaffected to his abilities.

My opponent had only two monster with the Flying ability, so the rest of his monsters took two extra damage at the end of the round and thanks to my Infiltrator my team managed to kill their Slipspawn* much quicker than him.

The second round was my turning point, because my opponent lost two of their monsters (their tank inculded), so only a handful of monster left on his battlefield and my team was still full in their numbers.

The third round was his final round, because my team had much more damage thanks to my Infiltrator and Djinn Chwala and they managed to kill their monsters quickly. 😀

Do you like Earthquake? Why or why not?

I do not really like this ruleset, because it limits the number of usable monsters, which I can use to set up my lineup. Generally I would have to use flying cards if I don't want them to take damage from the Earthquake ruleset.
