Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge with Briar Patch with Thaddius
Briar Patch Ruleset
Description:
All units receive the Thorns ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that use melee attacks receive damage back.
Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Melee attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from thorns.
The Amplify ability increases damage.
The Battle Ruleset
Briar Patch: All Monsters have the Thorn ability.
This is a low mana ruleset game and every color is available to play, so it is important to choose some budget friendly, but also strong monsters to outlive my opponent monsters.
It is difficult to use the Heavy Hitters ruleset, because I would need a monster with the Stun ability in order to utilise the double damage from this ability.
It is quite easy to counter the Briar Patch ruleset, because I will choose only magic and ranged attack monsters, so I do not need to worry about the reflect damage.
My Team Composition
Thaddius Brood is a very good Summoner, because he cost only four mana and he decreases two ability from the enemy monsers, which is their magic and health stats by one point.
Lord Arianthus is the perfect tank for this battle, becasue he doesn't have any attack, but he is full equipped with all the defensive stats in the game.
He is well protected against the melee, ranged and magic attacks thanks to his Shield and Void ability.
The Corpse Fiend cost zero mana, which will make him usable in any kind of team especailly low mana battles. In case my Arianthus dies he will be able to block one attack from the enemy monsters.
The Undead Priest is another low cost monster with one magic attack, but he also has the Weaken ability, which will reduce the health of all the enemy monsters by one.
The Ravenhood Warden is an amazing Death supporter, because his Protect ability will provide plus 2 armor to all of his friendly monsters, which is nice against the enemy melee and ranged attack as long as he lives.
The Weirding Warrior cost almost nothing and he still have one ranged attack damage. He is a widely used monster in my team using the Death monsters and on higher level his attac will increase as well.
The Soul Strangler is my main damage dealer, because he has three ranged attack damage in exchange of three mana, this is a very good mana cost/damage ratio and his weaknes will be his health as it is quite low.

My enemy brought the Obsidian who gives one magic attack to his monsters, but luckily my Thaddius countered him easily.
The first round started quite boring, because my opponent lost only his zero mana monster and his backline suffered a bit of reflected magic damage, which might cause some surprise in the following rounds.
His Queen Mycelia suicided himself against my Arianthus using his Magic Reflect ability and in the next round his Regal Peryton followed her into the grave.
Only two of his weak monster left on the battlefield, which was easy for my Arianthus to sustain their damage and for my backline to kill them. 😀

I like it, because I need to try to use a different tactic instead of what I am usually use and if my opponent doesn't pay attention they might wlak into a 'Thorn Trap'. 😉
