Mindfulness in challenging times #213

What is mindfulness exactly? 🤔

You know, I actually thought I knew what this simple word meant, after seeing it in this week’s topic, I was sure I didn’t 😅.

Soo, to be completely honest, I actually searched for the meaning, to be sure I knew where I was going with this write up.

Soo this is what it showed “the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment”. What I understood from just this sentence is that mindfulness means taking note of your surroundings and what goes on around you or within you(thoughts or emotion wise) without reacting to these things or giving any form of judgement to them.

Now, I don’t think I have tried mindfulness or meditation before. I don’t even know if I have or if I can muster the level of concentration needed to be able to meditate cause from what I’ve heard and seen about meditation on tv you definitely need a boat load of concentration.

I’m one to easily get distracted tho 🤣 but who knows… maybe I might get the hang of it one day ☺️💪🏾

My go to habits for staying healthy are

  1. working out

  2. drinking enough water

  3. getting enough sleep in

now, in this case, working out helps me clear my mind; like I can actually think more clearly when I’m on the thread mill, I know it sounds wierd but it’s how I am.

Drinking lots of water helps me feel refreshed and hydrated, I get tasty easily; way too easily at that. This amount of water helps me feel less choked when the work load gets too much.

  1. honestly ehh, ever since I started working due to this NYSC, I stopped getting rests. I don’t even get to bag like 8 hours of sleep in. Sooo I decided to start sleeping earlier so that even if I have to wake up quite early I won’t really feel it.

For me, though, I’m not exactly picky on where to sleep in the house 😆 I can literally sleep in the parlor with the fan turned on to the highest, so far I can enjoy my sleep in the process, then I’m good to go

Laying on this rug, right under this fan, as fast as it is now, would definitely feel like heaven to me 😄 and I would very much sleep like a baby right then and there 🤭 out like a light 🫣

Exercising, drinking water and getting enough sleep are good habits to keep you healthy and yes, meditation is necessary to concentrate,
