The last light of my soul
Hello friends! I hope you are very well, I took a few days off from drawing because my hand hurt me a lot, but just last night I resumed a drawing that I had started last week, I practically only had the sketch and the base colors, but I was quite excited to finish it because just thinking about the final result, I knew it would look pretty good, I knew it would look pretty good, this time I wanted to be very detailed and at the same time using a very scruffy and rustic technique, I love this kind of textures, I'm very happy to be able to upload the image in its original size, it's been a long time since I could do that but now it's easier thanks to the speed of the internet, I hope you like it.
As I mentioned I did this sketch several days ago and the truth is I was not sure if I could finish it because of the pain I had in my hand, besides there were many details to paint, luckily I feel better and so I started to complete this drawing, for this occasion I wanted to use a very saturated color palette with several of my favorite colors and a combination that I have liked for some time: pink, purple and orange.
I applied the tones to give shape to the face and hands and created different layers where I was detailing even better the skin.
I thought about painting the hair black but I decided to go for something more colorful and that would match all the shades of the image, so I applied a very saturated purple color, I painted the clothes and in a new layer I added different shades in the clothes to create folds but without being too precise, because I wanted a more rustic effect, to give more life to the hair I painted with dark purple and a lighter one creating dark and light strands, now I painted the base of the candle and the candle, for which I used purple and a yellow almost white on the top giving more realism to the light of the candle, the flame of the candle I painted it with a very light orange and a low opacity to make it look like a soft light and not so exaggerated, I painted a ring on the head with lilac and gave shadow on the edges.
I thought that a black background would be ideal for this drawing and I really loved how it looked, I painted the butterflies on the head also using purple and then I started to paint brush strokes around to give that rustic effect I was looking for, I fell in love with how these colors were mixed with that black background, finally I applied some highlights in certain parts of the drawing and made a slight color adjustment to the whole image giving it more contrast.
