The fate of the wretched
Hello Alien community 👽👽
Today I want you to accompany me in the process of this work that I liked very much, during the drawing process some ideas and changes in color arose, green is a color that I do not usually use very often but that I like in certain aspects, although green is a color that transmits nature, peace, good luck, etc., it can also be a color that can give illustrations a mystical touch, striking and full of power, that's why I decided to use this beautiful neon green combined with a portrait desaturated tones that I adjusted during the process.
My initial idea would be with warmer tones and a more realistic and at the same time surreal atmosphere, I decided to change course and I don't regret it, I hope you like it.
I started my sketch, I had an idea that I have already developed previously: the crown of thorns, but I haven't done it for a long time, I wanted to try how it looked this time since I didn't like the last one, I chose a color palette with pale greens and some desaturated greens for the skin, little by little I was building the face, this time I used a diffuse brush, I wanted a softer finish than normal, for her eyebrows and eyelashes I used two different brushes, one with a hair texture and another hard brush and of a very small size to draw more hair and look a little more natural.
After being satisfied with the texture of her skin, I started to paint her hair, I didn't know what color to choose, at first I thought that a black tone would be very nice but finally I decided on a bluish gray tone, I added highlights and shadows to the hair using gray scale since I wanted a fairly light hair, in a new layer I drew the blood falling from her head and crossing the entire face until reaching the neck, make another layer with the "overlay" mode and thus give more intensity to the blood.
I painted the crown gray, then I realized that it was easier to paint it a darker gray almost reaching black and apply some details of light with light gray which would give volume to the branches, as I mentioned, i do some changes and it is from this moment where I begin to think of something different from the idea I had in mind, it occurred to me to place a very dark background and an orange light behind her, then I would place a little fire in the background and some ashes around it, However, I was not very convinced to make it the typical color of fire, so I made a color adjustment to the background, I tried several tones but the green caught me completely, it looked much more interesting, even so my character did not complement with the background, so a color adjustment was needed, I applied a new layer with the multiply effect and darkened the entire silhouette with dark green, erased this layer of the eyes so that they would not look opaque and stand out as at the beginning.
Around her I painted with neon green and the "Screen" layer mode thus giving more brightness around her, this effect of light around made the drawing finally look more complete, but I still needed to apply some light details on the face and one last color adjustment that would make everything merge in a better way, so I made a color adjustment taking the whole drawing to a little more green and blue tones, raising the contrast level a little and lowering the exposure and it was very great, just the way I wanted.
