Splinterlands art contest | Possessed Puppet
Hello friends, I hope you are very well.
Today I want to present my entry to @Splinterlands art contest taking advantage again of the Halloween season, to choose a card that has a lot of potential for the season, Possessed Puppet is a very interesting card, I wanted to represent it in a semi-human form but at the same time with half of the face uncovered as in the original image, I really loved working on this, it was a challenge to achieve a sketch that I liked, normally I don't draw fangs or monstrous faces and it was really difficult.
I tried to take most of the colors very similar to the palette of the original drawing, since I wanted to stick to the design, but to my style, something I wanted to leave without so much resemblance was the hands, since I wanted to leave human hands and as realistic as possible.
It took me several days to finish this, it was quite complicated and I'm sick, but the moments I spent drawing helped me to distract me a lot, it's been a long time since I had such a difficult challenge.
After struggling for hours with the sketch, I managed to make one that I liked, so I started to paint, I chose a palette of cold saturated tones for the skin and started to apply it to give lights and shadows, then I added another layer where I placed more colors and started to mix them until I got a smooth skin, painting the gray part of the face was quite complicated, I really didn't know what shape to give it, but little by little I managed to have a somewhat decent result, then I placed the base tones on the clothes and hair.
I added more highlights to the hair and shadows to give it movement and shape, then I painted the ribbons that show behind the head, I finished detailing some parts of the face, and painted the fangs, these fangs were horrible to make and although they don't look perfect, I'm happy, then I added texture to the clothes adding folds and highlights, now I painted the knife and started adding blood stains on it.
I added a layer where I placed lights and started to paint the background, where I used background colors similar to the original image, using a strong lilac illuminating behind, then I thought of adding some spirals and finally I made a little editing of the drawing, increasing a little saturation and lowering the exposure.

¡¡La expresión de sus ojos da bastante miedo la verdad!! Me gustó mucho, suerte 🎃
Muchas gracias @mario02 😁 igualmente para ti
Just right in time for Halloween, you did great with it. Humanising and keeping it recognisable to the original character is a big deal, welldone and goodluck
