Hola comunidad de Sketchbook! Hoy estoy muy feliz porque hice un dibujo de uno de mis juegos y ahora serie favorita “The last of us” ha sido realmente una historia que me encanto desde la primera vez que tuve la oportunidad de jugar este videojuego, recientemente termino la serie en HBO y me sentí muy inspirada en hacer un dibujo de una de las escenas del episodio que mas me ha gustado hasta ahora, quiero comentarles que al principio creí que esta adaptación seria horrible (como casi todas las adaptaciones recientes inspiradas en juegos) pero la verdad me sorprendí muchísimo desde el primer capítulo, también dude un poco sobre nuestra protagonista y la elección de Bella Ramsey para interpretar a Ellie, pero la verdad es que me hizo tragar todas mis dudas porque en cada capítulo la actuación fue impecable, he amado a esta Ellie definitivamente tiene su esencia, el capitulo 5 fue uno de mis favoritos pero hace dos semanas vi el capitulo 8 y fue FENOMENAL, esta escena que dibuje fue de mis favoritas, pues aquí vemos como esa relación paternal de Joel hacia Ellie se refleja con mas fuerza, una escena extremadamente desesperante y triste, pero a la vez llena de amor, una explosión de emociones que definitivamente debía plasmarlo. Intente hacerlo lo mas parecido posible, aunque Joel me quedo un poco extraño jaja, pero Ellie quedo bastante bien a mi parecer, un reto bastante difícil pero que disfrute muchísimo porque de verdad ame esta adaptación de HBO, espero que les guste.

Today I'm very happy because I made a drawing of one of my favorite games and now series "The last of us" has been a story that I loved since the first time I had the opportunity to play this video game, recently finished the series on HBO and I felt very inspired to make a drawing of one of the scenes of the episode that I liked the most so far, I want to tell you that at first I thought this adaptation would be horrible (like almost all recent adaptations inspired by games) but the truth I was really surprised from the first chapter, I also had some doubts about our main character and the choice of Bella Ramsey to play Ellie, but the truth is that she made me swallow all my doubts because in each chapter the performance was impeccable, I have loved this Ellie definitely has her essence, chapter 5 was one of my favorites but two weeks ago I saw chapter 8 and it was PHENOMENAL, this scene that I drew was one of my favorites, because here we see how Joel's paternal relationship with Ellie is reflected with more strength, an extremely desperate and sad scene, but at the same time full of love, an explosion of emotions that I definitely had to capture it.
I tried to make it as close as possible although i drew Joel a little weird haha, but Ellie was pretty good in my opinion, a pretty difficult challenge but I really enjoyed because I really love this HBO adaptation, I hope you like it.

Proceso/Process

Realizar el boceto fue algo difícil y sentía que sería aún más difícil pintar pero de verdad quería hacer esto, así que me llene de fuerzas para poco a poco construir esta escena que me gusto tanto, comencé a colocar los tonos base en el rostro de Ellie usando colores similares a la imagen original pero un poco mas oscuros, rellene con colores base el resto del dibujo excepto el cabello del cual quería encargarme mas detalladamente mas adelante, agregue mas tonalidades y comencé a difuminar y mezclarlos, para este proceso use un pincel con textura de oleo para darle una textura un poco rustica pero sin exagerar, luego comencé a pintar el cabello para el cual use una tonalidad verde oscura desaturada y aplique algunos reflejos marrón y beige, pinte algunos cabellos sueltos para que luciese parecido a la escena.

Making the sketch was a little difficult and I felt it would be even more difficult to paint but I really wanted to do this, so I filled myself with strength to gradually build this scene that I liked so much, I began to place the base tones on Ellie's face using colors similar to the original image but a little darker, I filled with base colors the rest of the drawing except the hair which I wanted to take care of in more detail later, I added more shades and started to blur and mix them, for this process I used a brush with oil texture to give a little rustic texture but without exaggerating, then I started to paint the hair for which I used a desaturated dark green tone and applied some brown and beige reflections, I painted some loose hair to make it look similar to the scene.

La parte mas difícil llego, sabía que me costaría muchísimo por el ángulo en el que Joel está en esta imagen, comencé rellenando primero la mano con tonos base y luego mezclando estos tonos para darle forma a la mano, pinte el rostro de Joel y no había manera de hacerlo lucir parecido jajaja, pero hice mi mejor esfuerzo, la ropa fue un poco mas sencillo y usando el pincel de oleo hacia el trabajo un poco menos tedioso pues la ropa tenía muchísima textura y este pincel me ayudaba muchísimo para pintar los pliegues, pinte las gotas de sangre en el rostro de Ellie, para esto use un pincel duro plano variando de opacidad y con diferentes tonos naranjas, rojos y fucsia, finalmente le dibuje un poco mas de barba a Joel para que no pareciese que esta afeitado lol, también hice un ajuste de color y oscurecí un poco el lado izquierdo de la imagen.

The most difficult part came, I knew it would cost me a lot because of the angle in which Joel is in this image, I started filling first the hand with base tones and then mixing these tones to shape the hand, I painted Joel's face and there was no way to make it look similar hahaha, but I did my best, the clothes was a little easier and using the oil brush made the work a little less tedious because the clothes had a lot of texture and this brush helped me a lot to paint the folds, I painted the drops of blood on Ellie's face, for this I used a flat hard brush varying opacity and with different shades of orange, red and fuchsia, finally I drew a little more beard to Joel so he didn't look like he was shaved lol, I also made a color adjustment and darkened a little the left side of the image.

This is a difficult work to replicate, especially the smaller details! I particularly like how you blurred out Joel to create a specific perspective; that's a smart touch. 😊

I'm speechless, I watched this episode(this is the episode 8 ending scene if I'm not mistaken). I was wondering why someone would showcase a screenshot in Sketchbook, so I wanted to know why, and I was shocked to see that it is actually an art piece. This is superb work. This is epic. Thanks for sharing with us @alexa.art

Yeah! episode 8 one of the hardest in my opinion, hahahaha thank you very much!! I really liked it a lot and I wanted to make it quite real my hand still hurts but it was worth it
