Visit to Thiene, Province of Vicenza - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

Hi everyone! I had wanted to visit Thiene for a long time so a few weeks ago I didn't think too much about it and decided to spend a day in this city in the province of Vicenza.

Ciao a tutti! Era da moltissimo che volevo visitare Thiene così qualche settimana fa non ci ho pensato troppo e ho deciso di trascorrere una giornata in questa città nella provincia di Vicenza.

I had already planned a visit that combined the discovery of the historic center, a delicious lunch and the exploration of the charming local castle.

Avevo già pianificato una visita che combinava la scoperta del centro storico, un delizioso pranzo e l'esplorazione del suggestivo castello locale.

The morning began with a quiet walk in the heart of Thiene.

La mattina è iniziata con una tranquilla passeggiata nel cuore di Thiene.

The narrow cobbled streets were flanked by historic buildings in soft colours, with shops and restaurants which, given the time, enticed me to go in and try some local dishes.

Le strette stradine lastricate erano affiancate da edifici storici dai colori tenui, con negozi e ristorantini che vista l'ora mi invogliavano a entrare e provare qualche piatto locale.

I let myself be captured by the authentic atmosphere that permeated the place, breathing in the history that the ancient walls seemed to whisper like the elegance of the oratory of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary built in 1470 in 15th century Gothic style.

Mi sono lasciato catturare dall'atmosfera autentica che permeava il luogo, respirando la storia che le pareti antiche sembravano sussurrare come l'elenganza dell'oratorio della Natività della Beata Vergine Maria edificato nel 1470 in stile gotico del '400.

In front of the oratory there is the castle portal which enticed me to enter but my stomach was starting to require its attention, so I decided to have lunch at the renowned Dai Ciosoti restaurant, famous for its fish specialities.

Di fronte all'oratorio c'è il portale del castello che mi invogliava ad entrare ma il mio stomaco cominciava a richiedere la sua attenzione, così ho deciso di pranzare al rinomato ristorante Dai Ciosoti, famoso per le sue specialità di pesce.

Once seated at the table, I was greeted by a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. The fish tasting I ordered turned out to be a real riot of fresh marine flavors and culinary delights. Each course was a unique tasting experience, and the pleasure of sharing that meal with good company made the experience even more memorable.

Una volta seduto al tavolo, sono stato accolto da un'atmosfera accogliente e da un personale cordiale. La degustazione di pesce che ho ordinato si è rivelata un vero tripudio di sapori marini freschi e prelibatezze culinarie. Ogni portata era un'esperienza gustativa unica, e il piacere nel condividere quel pasto con buona compagnia ha reso l'esperienza ancora più memorabile.

After a long and satisfying lunch, I headed towards Thiene Castle, an imposing structure that stood proudly in the center of the city.

Dopo un pranzo lungo e soddisfacente, mi sono diretto verso il castello di Thiene, un'imponente struttura che si ergeva con fierezza nel centro della città.

Despite the presence of a lively event on the ground floor, with many animated children, I was happy to find that the upper floor, garden and stables were relatively quiet and not very busy.

Nonostante la presenza di una vivace manifestazione al piano terra, con molti bambini animati, sono stato felice di scoprire che il piano superiore, il giardino e le stalle erano relativamente tranquilli e poco frequentati.

The visit to the castle was a dive into local history. The upper floor gave me a breathtaking view of the city, while the garden offered a haven of peace and serenity. The restored stables were a fascinating addition, allowing me to imagine daily life in the past.

La visita al castello è stata un tuffo nella storia locale. Il piano superiore mi ha regalato una vista mozzafiato sulla città, mentre il giardino offriva un rifugio di pace e serenità. Le stalle restaurate erano un'aggiunta affascinante, permettendomi di immaginare la vita quotidiana di un tempo.

I have experience in the equestrian world but honestly I have never seen such a beautiful and regal stable, a true work of art!

Ho esperienza nell'ambiente dell'equitazione ma sincenramente non ho mai visto una scuderia così bella e regale, una vera opera d'arte!

Despite the noise on the ground floor, I fully enjoyed my visit to Thiene. The combination of a scenic walk, a delicious lunch and exploring a castle steeped in history made this an unforgettable day. Thiene has proven to be a hidden treasure, ready to fascinate anyone who has the pleasure of discovering it.

Nonostante il frastuono al piano terra, ho apprezzato appieno la mia visita a Thiene. La combinazione di una passeggiata suggestiva, un pranzo delizioso e l'esplorazione di un castello ricco di storia ha reso questa giornata indimenticabile. Thiene ha dimostrato di essere un tesoro nascosto, pronto ad affascinare chiunque abbia il piacere di scoprirlo.
