She Promised

She promised that we would be together, but we were never going to be.
I was thinking about that as I walked down the street with my mom and dad. I was sure we couldn't be with each other, that it was just a phase. We were a couple in our minds, but not in reality. Yet I wanted her so badly. I wanted to touch her, to kiss her. But she was too far away from me, and I wasn't strong enough to run and get her.
