She Promised

She promised that we would be together, but I had to let her go. It wasn't fair. Not fair at all. But I did it anyway.
I took her to the station and she cried and I cried. I tried to hold her back, but she just ran away. I screamed after her, but it was too late. She had already boarded the train and left me behind.
She's gone. Just like that. Gone. I never saw her again. I was so sad. I couldn't even have a good cry. I ran down to the beach and tried to drown myself in the waves, but there was nothing there.
