Art and Creativity: If What You're Doing Isn't Working, CHANGE Something!
It's a pretty old saying that "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a form of insanity."
As such, I suppose it also follows that when something isn't working out, change what you're doing.
Change is a challenge, though, but I am working on it. I think the challenge mostly lies in "known" (even if failing) vs. the "unknown"of new directions. But here's the thing: It's very unlikely that something that hasn't worked in years will suddenly start working because you decided to abandon it!
The first "breeze of change" I felt was the fact that eBay didn't charge me $21.95 for a seller subscription, at the beginning of this month. Woo-hoo!
There definitely was a time when eBay was a really good gig, but that time has been and passed. Of course, I still want to have an online sales presence, so I'm keeping the Esty shop... at least for now.
As I mentioned in a previous post, I am going to change my strategy and cave in to listing cheaper "gifty" items, rather than being entirely focused on art.
Meanwhile, since I am also in the process of ending my beachcombing "debris" business (think "art supplies") I'm thinking of incorporating tiny pebbles/stones for jewelry making into the listings. A lot of people are willing to spend money on the supplies to make something — even if it can be found in nature — but they are not willing to spend money on the finished something.
Such is life... and I'm really OK with that!
Still need to work on setting up my @hivelist store... still trying to find out how to set up shipping in an equitable way. It always takes a while to learn and understand a new interface and system.
It would definitely be sweet to start selling in crypto. I already decided that when I do sell something through HiveList, I'm just going to plow the funds either into HBD savings or into restoring my Hive Power, most of which was powered down to pay a tax bill, this spring.
I hated seeing the account drop from almost 1,500 HP to pretty much nothing... on the other hand, I was happy that it was there, precisely in case of such emergencies. We all have them, like it or not!
Of course, I should also get back into art blogging, on a more regular basis.
