Show Me A Photo Contest Round 172 | Bird Couple: Festooned Sky [EN/ES]
Puedes leer la versión en español AQUI
Greetings everyone, another week enjoying wonderful photos of our feathered friends. This time I was able to capture a pair of birds Great Kiskadee (Pitangus sulphuratus) perched on the electrical wiring in front of my mother's house.
With its beautiful deep yellow and brown plumage adorning its body, its black and white head also stands out; it is a great insect hunter and helps maintain the ecosystem by controlling some pests.
Seeing this pair of birds was a wonderful moment, they posed for the photo taking advantage that the sky was adorned with a beautiful rainbow. 🌈 Watching this spectacle made me feel grateful to be able to see the majesty of nature, with its wide range of colors, the birds crossing the infinite blue of the celestial vault.
The Great Kiskadee is a very common bird in the region where I live. Its trill is very characteristic and in fact it can be easily identified since it seems to say
"Cristofue". It is popularly said that its presence is an omen of a visit or a baby on the way and some people even say that when they sing they announce that it is not going to rain that day. The latter coincides with the presence of the rainbow since it is popularly believed that it sucks the water. 🌈
In truth while I observed it they did not sing, they just remained very quiet accompanying each other on the wiring. It is also said of this bird that it is very friendly with humans and always appears where humans dwell.
The photos were taken by me with my mom's cell phone in Apure state, southern Venezuela. Although they are not very sharp and perhaps the angle is not the best, I wanted to show them because I loved it, it is rare to be able to observe a rainbow with these beautiful birds.
