Monomad: Those Who Inhabit Grassy Areas

(Edited)

These were the insects that inhabited the grassy area on the outskirts of my town. Each of them has its own territory, even though they are still in the same area. Some of them behave as pollinator insects, some as predators, and some are herbivorous insects.

Twice a week, I always take the time to walk to the grassy area near the Pusong reservoir, Lhokseumawe. It is a pleasure to be able to see and observe various kinds of insects there. The most fun is finding insects that are mating. To me, it is a luxury that cannot be bought.

Here the hoverfly was engrossed in sucking flower nectar. This guy was wearing a large helmet on his head. I don't know if it's heavy, but he seems comfortable wearing it.

This guy, though small and despite belonging to the family of flies, was a cold-blooded predator. This guy was quite feared by the inhabitants of the grassy area there. So he was called the robber fly, a common name that was quite frightening.

This one is no less scary than the robber fly. With a stocky body and large bulging eyes, this dragonfly flies around as it sniffs out prey in the low air.

Among them, only this guy was calm and non-aggressive. The weevil was a voracious leaf eater, sucking up even the sap of young plants. He only works to eat and mate.

This is another entry I submitted for the daily #monomad challenge.
