The Icon Group Of Friends.

In St David's high school, there is so much competition and the students of the school always have group of friends just like every other school.
One of the toughest and most stubborn group of students named themselves the Icon group and they always want to annoy every group of friends in the school especially when you try to block their way.
In the group of Icon, they were seven girls named Fathia, Pelumi, Nofisat, Doyin, Lois, Ife and Bukunmi.
Their friendship was so tight that they wait for each other after closing hours so that they can go home together.

This became a ritual and none of them will go home no matter how busy the last person may be. Also, they always walk together in school so you can't catch one of them alone and it is always advisable to stay away from them when they are coming your way so they won't frustrate you.

Guys, I have an idea. Why not let us begin a weekly contribution so that at the end of every week, we can collect our money and use it to buy something, Bukunmi said as she raised the idea.

Hmm, that makes sense but who do you think can keep our money and won't spend it?, Pelumi the ring leader asked and since the Bukunmi raised the idea, everyone nominated her to keep the money with her.

They waited a week before they started to save the money so that they all could adjust to their new spending style. They started the weekly contribution and things were going on well to the point that every member of the icon group is always looking forward to Fridays so they can collect their money and what they mostly do with it is buy junk foods with all the money they save.
Suddenly, Bukunmi, the treasurer stopped coming to school. That happened the first day but the girls were not worried until it happened for a whole week.

Girls, what do you think might happen to Bukunmi?, Nofisat asked.

I really don't care about anything that happens to her. All I want is my money. She could have simply called when she knows that she won't be coming to school and she's not even responding to our messages, Fathia said and with the look on her face, we could tell that she only wants to collect her money.

Maybe we should go to her house with full force so she will know we are not joking. If she doesn't want to come to our school again, she should at least give us our money, Pelumi, the ring leader said.

Yes!!!, they all echoed.

When the school closed, they all waited at their regular corner and they marched to Bukunmi's house. They were so ready to storm the castle.
Bang, bang, they shouted but they didn't a response and Fathia, the loudest of them all started to shout and said,
Bukunmi, I know you are inside and you don't want to answer us because you have spent our money. Come out now or else, we will break your gate, Fathia shouted and the people living in the neighborhood came out to see what was happening.

Finally, Bukunmi came out. Mere looking at her, her friends could tell that something was wrong somewhere. She looked slimmer, her eyes were red and she doesn't look happy. Fathia with the loudest voice was even the first to speak at a very calm voice.

Bukunmi, sorry for the way we shouted but you don't look okay. Is there anything wrong with you? You can always talk to us, Fathia said while she wrapped her hands round Bukunmi's neck.

I lost my mum, Bukunmi said as she burst into tears.

All the girls were shocked and for that moment, they forgot about the money they were here for.
They felt very bad for their friend and Bukunmi took them to her mum's graveyard. Her friends felt sorry and embarrassed. They all spent extra time at Bukunmi's house as they tried to pat and console her.

I feel bad for shouting at her and we didn't even know what happened, Fathia said while she and the girls were going home.

I'm sure she will forgive us because she will surely know that we didn't know what happened to her, Pelumi responded.

They all went to their various homes and planned a big surprise for Bukunmi when she resumed back at school. They dashed Bukunmi the money they saved before and started a fresh contribution. Their friendship also became tighter.

The girls discovered what was happening to the girl and became a great support for her. A beautiful story of friendship in the midst of tragedies.

Thanks for sharing your story.
Excellent day.
