Between two scary powers, I get the less scary one.

Looking into the past can be very challenging for someone who has experienced many traumas. Our brains have a well-known defense mechanism in psychology to forget events that have hurt us. On the other hand, being able to see past events clearly allows us to learn from life. Analyzing past experiences makes us wiser, and it becomes more difficult to make the same mistakes or be hurt in the same way, for example.

Having the power to see beyond our life into the past would indeed be very interesting. This would undoubtedly make us more mature, with knowledge that would make it possible for us to do anything we wanted. But, I have no doubt that without the necessary emotional strength, this could also make us depressed. Especially if we were able to see not only all the events in our lives since childhood but also the events in other people's lives.

Personally, I already think too much, reflect too much, have the involuntary habit of absorbing emotions, so I imagine that knowing the past stories of other people would mess too much with my mind, maybe I would go insane.

As for the future, it gives me a sense of anxiety. The future has not happened yet, or does it happen every moment? It's hard to answer that question. However, thinking about the long-term future is something that seems strange to me. If I could see the future, I would have to deal with the fact that everyone has a pre-defined destiny, and I would be shocked because it's not something I believe in. Having a predetermined destiny seems a bit scary to me because it gives me a sense of imprisonment, a prison I can't escape from because everything that would happen would be destined, and there would be nothing to do but accept it.

Inevitably, having the power to see the future would also cause me suffering. Imagine being able to see the day of my death or the death of the people I love? Being able to see the number of wars that would still happen? Being able to see the world being destroyed? Although I could see many good events as well, which would certainly happen, the weight of seeing the sad moments that are still to come and not being able to change them would certainly drive me mad.

But, the theme's proposal is to choose between the power to see the past or the future, right? Well, without further ado, I would choose the past. Knowing what happened, not only to me but to other people and the world itself, would give me wisdom to make the best decisions in the present. The past is fixed, immutable. The future is unpredictable. Although both powers are scary to me in the end, I prefer the power that gives me the minimum control over situations.

Olhar para o passado pode ser algo muito difícil de se fazer se uma pessoa tiver por muitos traumas. Nosso cérebro tem um mecanismo de defesa bastante conhecido na psicologia para se esquecer de eventos que nos machucaram. Por outro lado, conseguir enxergar os eventos que aconteceram no passado com clareza, faz com que aprendamos com a vida. Analisar experiências do passado nos tornam mais sapientes, e dessa forma se torna mais difícil cometermos os mesmos erros ou sermos machucados da mesma forma, por exemplo.

Ter um poder de enxergar o passado para além de nossa vida, seria sim algo muito interessante. Isso sem dúvida nos tornaria mais maduros, e com um conhecimento que tornaria possível fazermos qualquer coisa que quisessemos. Mas, eu não tenho dúvida que sem a força emocional necessária, isso também poderia nos deixar deprimidos. Principalmente se fossemos capazes de enxergar não só todos os acontecimentos da nossa vida desde a infância como os acontecimentos das vidas de outras pessoas.

Eu, particularmento já penso demais,reflito demais, tenho o hábito involuntario de absorver emoções, então eu imagino que saber as histórias do passado de outras pessoas mexeria demais com minha mente, talvez eu enlouquecesse.

Já o futuro me dá uma sensação de ansiedade. O futuro, ainda não aconteceu, ou ele acontece a cada momento? É difícil responder essa pergunta. Porém, pensar no futuro a longo prazo, é algo que me parece estranho. Se eu pudesse ver o futuro teria que lidar com o fato de que todos tem um destino pre definido, e eu ficaria em choque porque não é algo que acredito. Ter um destino já escrito, me parece um pouco assustador, porque me causa uma sensação de prisão, de uma prisão que não posso escapar, pois tudo que iria acontecer eu estaria destinada, e não haveria nada o que fazer além de aceitar.

Inevitavelmente, ter o poder de ver o futuro também me causaria sofrimento. Imagine pode ver o dia da minha morte ou da morte das pessoas que eu amo? Poder ver a quantidade de guerras que ainda aconteceriam? Poder ver o mundo ser destruído? Por mais que pudesse ver muitos acontecimento bons também, que certamente aconteceriam, o peso de ver os momentos tristes que ainda estão por vir e não poder mudá-los seria algo que certamente também me enlouqueceria.

Mas, a proposta do tema é escolher entre o poder de ver passado ou futuro certo? Bem, sem mais delongas, eu escolheria o do passado. Pois saber o que aconteceu, não só comigo como com outras pessoas, como com o próprio mundo, me daria sabedoria para tomar as melhores decisões no presente. O passado é fixo, imutável. O futuro é imprevisível. Por mais que ambos os poderes para mim sejam assustadores no fim das contas, eu prefiro o poder que me dará o mínimo de controle sobre as situações.
