The National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) is set to integrate a central bank digital currency (CBDC) dubbed “Digital Elteng” into the BNB blockchain ecosystem.

The president of Binance CZ announced the news via Twitter with the following statement:

Efforts to drive mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies did not stop when Kazakhstan obtained a license to operate in Kazakhstan about 2 weeks ago.

As the central bank digital currencies are now a big boost to major monetary authorities around the world, Kazakhstan has achieved an important milestone with “Digital Tenge” by launching its beta testing in a controlled environment with real users and merchants.

According to CZ, confirmations of the merger came from successful negotiations with the First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Berik Chulbankulov, and the head of the Payment and Technology Center Pinor Zalinov.

He told "CZ" via Twitter:

We have introduced them to the Binance Blockchain community #BNB CHAIN to discuss testing the integration of their CBDC (Digital Elast) with the Binance Blockchain.

CZ has not provided any detailed indications of how and what the Central Bank of Kazakhstan will do or to what extent innovators and builders in the BNB ecosystem will launch real-world use cases that include “digital aging.”

CZ also noted that he is keen to see how things will form according to the proposed integration.

And he said:

We look forward to the National Bank of Kazakhstan preparing CBDC use cases to see how they can be integrated into the Binance network to bridge the gap between traditional banking and the crypto ecosystem.

Binance's global expansion campaign has recognized that Kazakhstan is a very strategic country in the long term.

From the meeting between Head of State Kasim Jomart Kemiloli Tokayev to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to obtaining its license, Binance has remained committed to potentially delivering the country's digital transformation to users of its ecosystem.
