Proof of Brain Photography contest - #Water
Hello mates!
I so love the chosen theme for this week, for without it we will all come to extinction.
Part of our work as a contractor in our city's Water District is to maintain the flow of #Water in the rivers to have continuous flow for the water district to treat and process.
During summer months, April being the hottest, they always call our services to do a river inspection on all four major rivers here in our city. For that is the time the water level in the water treatment plant is in its critical level.
Armed with bolos and crow bar we will start our journey.
What we do is we survey the upstream part of the river.
We clear out debris that are blocking the flow of the water. Mostly dried leaves, branches and even rocks.
Inside Subic Bay, I Iove going with our team for we get to explore the river and the forest as well. The area has no inhabitants except for the Aeta tribe, the local indigenous tribe who have been given access to the forest. To hunt for their food during hunting season. There are still wild pigs, deers, snakes, wild chickens, monkeys also honey.
They are the one's allowed to fish in the rivers as well but only in designated areas.
We usually encounter mini pools done by them. They put up rocks to create a lagoon so they have their own private swimming area which affects the flow of the water. So we have no choice but to take out their swimming area to let the water flow freely.
The whole forest of Subic Bay is being protected so no one is allowed to build houses in them. We usually survey up to five kilometers upstream. The Aetas have their own community as well. In the outskirts of Subic Bay.
We remove fallen trees as well which is pretty hard since we don't bring our chain saws with us for it will be hard to walk on foot with equipments. We have to climb on rocks so we need to travel light.
Cutting fallen trees are done manually. It's truly hard work but since we just enjoy the scenery we don't find it hard plus we work as a team so it makes the work lighter.
As we journey farther inside the forest there is a sense of peace around us. The smell of freshness all around. The sound of different birds singing, the trees and the leaves rustling, swaying, dancing the woodpeckers pecking the trees gives you that happy feeling. I get to see unique shapes of trees some looks like from the aliens movie, some from the haunted movies too... Hahaha. Plus the clean fresh water. During lunch time our boys can't help themselves not to take a dip in the water.
I love these shrubberies growing just beside the river bank.
In a way what we're doing is our service to our community, our contribution to help the abundant flow of water plus the clean up of the rivers as well.
