Fresh Morning, Soothing Atmosphere

That morning, we left home early so we could enjoy the cool morning atmosphere at TMII. Upon arrival, we were greeted with fresh air and lush green trees. It was like entering an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of busy Jakarta. TMII is indeed extraordinary. Even though it is located in the middle of the city, it feels like a huge park that takes us to different corners of the archipelago in an instant.

With very affordable tickets, TMII not only presents the beauty of nature, but also the richness of Indonesian culture. Each province in Indonesia is represented by platforms that showcase their distinctive architecture.

Exploring the Archipelago in One Day

We decided to start our journey by exploring the regional platforms. One of our favourite platforms was the Yogyakarta platform. It was a magnificent building with typical joglo architecture. Here, we had the opportunity to see a smaller scale replica of Borobudur Temple, as well as Yogyakarta's signature handicrafts. Then, we moved on to the West Sumatra platform, where we could enjoy the iconic gadang houses with curved roof architecture. Not only beautiful to look at, but each platform at TMII also offers a lot of educational information about the culture, customs, and life of the people in each region. One of the best moments at TMII was when we rode the cable car. From a height, we could see the entire vast area of the park. With the backdrop of the lake and the miniature Indonesian archipelago, the view was spectacular. Not only beautiful, but it also made us more proud of Indonesia's rich culture and nature.

Enjoying Indonesian Arts and Culture

That afternoon, TMII also organised several art performances that were not to be missed. We witnessed regional dance performances from various tribes, which further added to our admiration for Indonesia's rich cultural arts. There was Saman dance from Aceh, Piring dance from West Sumatra, and Kecak dance from Bali. Every movement of the dancers was mesmerising, showing incredible skill and dedication. After watching the performance, we continued our journey to Museum Indonesia, one of the largest museums in TMII. Here, we saw various collections of historical objects representing various tribes in Indonesia. From traditional clothing, traditional weapons, to ancient musical instruments. The museum really gave us a deeper insight into Indonesia's vast cultural diversity.

Relaxing Time at the Bird Park

After wandering around the museums and platforms, we chose to relax for a while at the Bird Park. We could see various types of birds from all over Indonesia, such as the exotic Cenderawasih bird from Papua and the rare Bali Starling. The atmosphere in the Bird Park is very calming with shady trees and the refreshing sound of chirping birds. One of the most memorable moments was when we saw a majestic eagle flying above our heads. It felt like we were in the middle of a wild forest, even though we were still inside TMII. The Bird Park offers not only entertainment, but also education on the importance of wildlife conservation in Indonesia.

Nusantara Culinary, Not Missed!

Travelling at TMII is certainly not complete without tasting the culinary specialities of the archipelago. In the culinary area, we tried some traditional dishes from various regions. I enjoyed a portion of delicious Padang satay, while my wife chose the savoury Betawi soup. We also had some refreshing ice cendol to end our lunch.TMII really spoils the palate with a variety of culinary options from all over Indonesia. For those who love culinary, this place is a food paradise that should not be missed.

Sweet Memories to Bring Home

By late afternoon, we decided to end our trip at TMII with a visit to Archipelago Lake. We rented a rowing boat and travelled around the lake surrounded by miniature Indonesian islands. The atmosphere was so peaceful, accompanied by a gentle breeze that added to the romantic atmosphere. This moment was the perfect ending to our weekend. TMII offers not only fun, but also learning and unforgettable experiences. Together with my wife, I felt closer to the country's rich nature and culture.

Closing

Spending a weekend at TMII with your partner is an unforgettable experience. With beautiful scenery, interesting cultural platforms, mesmerising art performances, and delicious culinary delights from all over Indonesia, TMII has something for everyone. Whether you want to relax, learn about culture, or simply enjoy some quality time with your loved ones, this is the place to visit. So, for Worldmappin friends who have never been to TMII or haven't visited in a while, this weekend could be the perfect time to plan an exciting trip there.
