Melon Planting Season, Management To Have Big Melons For Harvesting

Melon is actually the kind of crop many farmers are not aware on how they can manage and maintain it to make a huge harvesting. Melon is actually very easy to plant but the problem with many farmers is that they're not aware on how they can help the melon they planted to produce good seed for harvesting.

If actually we can take good care of our melon and not to overlook it after planting we can actually benefit from it. If we plant our melon seed from the very first day and we don't go back to the farm to monitor it, ant and other insert, squirrel, and fowl may eat the seed from the soil.

To plant melon and have a good return should be done between the month of may in Nigeria. Our weather is usually favorable for it to germinate and produce good melon bulb. Melon is very good to germinate during raining season because it requires constant water to grow very fast.

As a farmer that's expecting your melon to germinate and grow well you should plant your melon only using two to three seeds in a hole. Your soil deepness shouldn't be too much so that when rain touches it from the soil it'll shootout early. Within four to seven days a melon seed planted is expected to germinate. A farmer should be aware that not all planted melon seed will germinate after planting that's why it's important to check back the seeds. Monitor the planted melon seed to see those that'll not germinate so you can replant.

A planted melon should spent at least three months before it'll be mature for harvesting. Within five to six weeks, a planted melon is expected to shootout flower. The melon flower is sign that the planted melon is about to produce a melon 🍈 bulb. Inside the melon bulb is a melon seed which will be used for cooking of soup after harvesting and processed completely.

The produced melon bulb will have to take about six weeks to be mature. By the time the melon bulb is mature, flys will be moving around it to show it's due for harvesting.

In conclusion if a planted melon is germinated it should be properly monitored. A farmer will have to be directing the front mouth and give it proper care to make sure it produces big melons bulb.
