Powered By Canva
Hello Fellow Hivers!
Hope everyone is doing well.
@affliction here back after a short break to write about Splinterlands again.
And today my post will be featuring a battle on the ruleset Fog Of War
If you are not sure what Splinterlands is, make sure to give this articles a read and at the end you will find some information to get started with the game.
ABOUT THE RULE SET:
Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.
Choosing the right kind of tank can be tricky in Splinterands as it is not necessary that all the attacks will be directed towards the tank specially if the monsters are having abilities like Sneak Snipe or Opportunity.
Now there is a rule set in Splinterlands, Fog Of War that strips off all such abilities and it becomes quite predictable that the attacks will be heavy towards our tank.
In most such cases, usually the line ups are heavy on magic or ranged attackers and we need to defend accordingly. And for our offensive choice, going with Scattershot can make things unpredictable for the opponent to give an advantage.
BATTLE RULES :
- Mana Cap : 57
- Rule sets :
Aim True: Attacks always hit their target.
Up to Eleven: All Monsters have the Amplify ability.
Fog of War: Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.
- Available Splinters :
Fire
Water
Earth
Death
Dragon
THE LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 6 | 3 | Our choice of summoner for the battle was a level 3 Conqueror Jacek, the legendary Fire summoner from Chaos Legion Set. Though the summoner costs 6 mana, it creates an impact with it's buff abilities of +2 Speed, Piercing and Scattershot making it's monsters strong and unpredictable and very instrumental in this week's Fog Of War ruleset. | |
Position 1 | 11 | 3 | In the first position of our line up, we are playing a card that is often considered to be one of the better tanks from Chaos Legion set, Grum Flameblade. The level 3 version we are playing in this battle comes with melee damage of 4, 1 speed, 5 armor and 14 hp with Bloodlust Void Armor Void and Giant Killer. | |
Position 2 | 10 | 4 | In the second position, we are playing another melee tank from the Gladius set, a gold foil level 4 Chimney Wallstop with Reach and Bloodlust. And for the base stats, the card has 6 melee damage, 2 speed , 3 armor and 9 hp. So with Aim True ruleset combined with Piercing from the summoner, the card will hit like a truck. | |
Position 3 | 9 | 5 | In the third position, we have placed a level 5 Lava Launcher. Being a reward card, this card does not get the recognition it deserves. At level 5, it comes with 4 archery damage, 3 speed, 7 armor and 6 hp along with Close Range and Stun. The card plays exceptionally well with Conqueror Jacek. | |
Position 4 | 7 | 6 | In the next position, we are playing another reward card, and a Close Range ranged monster too, a level 6 Gargoya Devil which happens to be a Neutral card that comes with 3 ranged damage, 3 speed, 2 armor and 4 hp. Along with Close Range, the card also has the abilities Flying and Deathblow. | |
Position 5 | 7 | 3 | In the next position, we are playing a level 3 gold foil Ash Mirage from the Riftwatchers edition. The card comes with 2 archery damage, 5 speed and 7 hp. It also comes with the useful debuff ability of Headwinds which can be very helpful considering the fact we are mostly expecting ranged attackers if not magic attackers. | |
Position 6 | 8 | 3 | In the last position, we have placed a level 3 Countess Sinash from the reward card set. At this level the card comes with 4 archery damage, 4 speed and 4 hp along with abilities like Opportunity which is somewhat wasted in this battle but Camouflage Swiftness & Affliction are quite game changing. |
THE OPPONENT LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 6 | 3 | As the summoner, the opponent decided to play a level 3 Possibilus the Wise, the legendary Water summoner with +2 to hp Trample and Reach making it a great summoner for the melee monsters available in the Water splinter and can turn out to be an interesting choice in this battle. | |
Position 1 | 6 | 3 | As the tank, the opponent is playing a level 32 Baakjira which would have been a perfect choice if we went with magic attack like our opponent expected us with it's Void Slow and Heal the card is quite hard to take down with the insane hp of 13 which will be boosted to 16 with +2 from the summoner and the card's Strengthen. | |
Position 2 | 9 | 2 | In the second position, like us, the opponent too is playing a Gladius melee card with Reach and Bloodlust, a level 2 Relenor Cleaver. The card has quite well balanced offensive and defensive stats of 4 melee damage, 2 speed, 8 armor and 7 hp. | |
Position 3 | 8 | 3 | In the third position, we are facing a level 3 Djinn Oshannus. The card is considered to be one of he best well rounded card in the game with Void Phase and Forcefield abilities, combined with the base stats of 2 magic damage, 5 speed and 11 hp. | |
Position 4 | 9 | 4 | Next, in the fourth position, the opponet is playing another high magic damage dealer in the form of a level 4 Nerissa Tridawn that come with 4 magic damage, 3 speed and 10 hp. | |
Position 5 | 7 | 3 | In the fifth spot, we are facing a level 3 River Hellondale with 2 magic damage, 2 speed, 1 armor and 4 hp. Though the stats do not seem that impressive, the card's abilities Resurrect Inspire and Dispel makes the card impressive. | |
Position 6 | 11 | 1 | In the last spot, we are facing a level 1 Runemancer Kye with 2 magic damage, 3 speed, 5 armor and 8 hp. The card is very well known for it's Flying and Life Leech abilities combined with the magic damage. |
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In the first round, the Lava Launcher drew the first blood as it took out the River Hellondale giving us an advantage.
- Round 2:
In this round, our Grum Flameblade was able to take out the Baakjira from the front position to trigger it's Bloodlust and make it deadlier.
- Round 3:
In this round, our Chimney Wallstop eliminated the Relenor Cleaver to bag it's first kill which triggered Bloodlust as well.
- Round 4:
In the fourth round even, we continue to dominate as our Gargoya Devil joins the party and takes out the Runemancer Kye to bag it's first kill and take us closer to victory.
- Round 5:
The round started off with our Ash Mirage taking out the Djinn Oshannus and the opponent was left with Nerissa Tridawn as the last card remaining. However, soon our Lava Launcher finished things off with style and bags it's second kill of the battle by taking out the Nerissa Tridawn to give us that flawless victory.

STRATEGY:
Brawl battles are most of the time quite tough to be honest since most of the players who play Brawls are older players in the game and has a wide variety of cards available in their deck to choose from.
Luckily for us, with this week's featured ruleset Fog Of War it was quite easy to predict that we will be facing either magic or ranged attackers.
And sure enough, our opponent went with heavy magic dealers which was easily neutralized by our tank Grum Flameblade and the opponent team could not get past him. In addition to our Tank selection, playing Conqueror Jacek with Scattershot ability in specific was the best possible offensive selection with high damage ranged monsters.
And all in all, we were very dominant in the battle and got ourselves a flawless victory.
MVP:
Card | Kills | Contribution |
---|---|---|
1 | Our Grum Flameblade single-handedly dominated over the magic damage dealers from the opponent line up and absorbed all the hits and stood strong. The Void Armor paired with Void from the Grum Flamebalde was the perfect set of abilities to counter the magic attacks and at the same time it did it's job well offensively and managed to bag the kill of the Baakjira. |
