Hello Fellow Hivers!
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your weekend.
@affliction here with a post featuring a battle on the ruleset Ferocity
If you are not sure what Splinterlands is, make sure to give this articles a read and at the end you will find some information to get started with the game.
ABOUT THE RULE SET:
All units have the Fury ability.
Tanks with Taunt ability is one of the most common styles to defend in the game. And usually players place their Taunt monsters at the back and play another offensive tank in the front which makes both the monsters more sustainable specially when we play our Taunt monster with a monsters with Triage. The game has quite a few tanks with Taunt which are quite tough to take down adding to the frustration.
Introducing Fury, one of the new abilities in the game that is a strong counter against Taunt and our featured ruleset Ferocity gives every monster of the line up the Fury that I have been talking about.
Now what does Fury do?
All monsters with the Fury ability deals twice damage on the monsters with Taunt taking them out easily.
BATTLE RULES :
- Mana Cap : 23
- Rule sets :
Wands Out: Only Monsters with Magic attack may be used in battles.
Target Practice: All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.
Ferocity: All Monsters have the Fury ability.
- Available Splinters :
Fire
Water
Death
Dragon
THE LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 4 | 6 | Our choice of summoner for the battle was a level 6 Thaddius Brood that is one of the best magic counter summoners available in the game inflicting the opponent line up wwith -1 to Magic damage and -1 to hp. Considering the the fact we were playing a battle with Wands Out ruleset it was obvious we will be facing all magic monsters, hence playing this as the summoner was a no-brainier. | |
Position 1 | 3 | 6 | We have went with an unorthodox line up here placing a level 6 Life Sapper with 2 magic damage, 4 speed and 3 hp and Life Leech. The monster is far from a tank but having said that we do not need a tank in the first position since we have the Target Practice ruleset most of the attacks will hit the next monster we play. | |
Position 2 | 9 | 3 | In the second position, we are playing our strongest monster, a level 3 Djinn Muirat. The monster has 3 magic damage, 2 speed, 4 armor and 8 hp along with very strong abilities like Void Armor Knock Out Giant Killer and Magic Reflect. The card is without a doubt the best card we could play for this battle in this position as it will not only absorb hits from the opponent magic attackers, but also will deal significant damage as Magic Reflect. | |
Position 3 | 4 | 6 | In the third position, we have placed a level 6 Venari Spellsmith, the neutral Chaos Legion card with 2 magic damage 3 speed and 3 hp along with Dispel and Amplify ability that adds amazing synergy with Djinn Muirat's Magic Reflect. | |
Position 4 | 3 | 1 | In the fourth and last spot of our line up, we are playing another Chaos Legion neutral card, a level 1 Spirit Hoarder with 1 magic damage, 1 speed and 3 hp. The card is best known for it's Triage ability at all levels. |
THE OPPONENT LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 4 | 3 | Like us, the opponent too decided to go with Thaddius Brood as their choice of summoner. However, we are already having an advantage as the opponent was playing only a level 3 copy of the card. | |
Position 1 | 4 | 3 | At the first position, the opponent is also playing a card with Life Leech, a level 3 Venari Bonesmith, one of the Chaos Legion reward card from the Death splinter. The card comes with 1 magic damage, 3 speed and 4 hp. | |
Position 2 | 6 | 1 | In the second position, the opponent decided to play a level 1 Magi of Chaos that comes with 2 magic damage, 2 speed and 5 hp. Being a neutral card with high magic damage, it finds it's spot in many line ups. | |
Position 3 | 3 | 3 | In the third position, the opponent has placed a level 3 gold foil Life Sapper that comes with 1 magic damage, 3 speed and 3 hp along with the Life Leech ability. | |
Position 4 | 6 | 2 | In the fourth and last spot of the line up, we are facing yet another gold foil card, this time a level 2 Magi Necrosi having 2 magic damage, 4 speed and 5 hp along with the Snipe ability which is wasted in the battle because of the Target Practice ruleset and Camouflage ability which does not come too handy as well since all magic monsters with target the Snipe position anyways. |
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In the first round, the opponent's Life Sapper killed itself as it tried to attack our Djinn Muirat and was hit with the Magic Reflect combined with Amplify from Venari Spellsmith as per our plan. Later in the round, Magi of Chaos too received the same fate and the opponent team was already down to two monsters.
- Round 2:
Round two starts off in similar fashion as this time Magi Necrosi tried attacking our Djinn Muirat killing itself in the process. Soon we got our victory in the round as the Venari Spellsmith dealt the killing blow to Venari Bonesmith.

STRATEGY:
Our strategy for the battle was to counter the opponent's play style by improvising on the rulesets.
Placing Life Sapper was an off choice for sure but since we nerfed the magic damage of the opponent and Life Sapper could only be attacked by the first monster from the opponent line up because of the Target Practice ruleset and the Life Sapper should be able to keep itself alive with the Life Leech ability. Our Trump card however was placing Djinn Muirat in the second position which would attract all the magic damage and reflect with Magic Reflect ability paired with Amplify from the Venari Spellsmith. In addition to all this, we also had Spirit Hoarder's Triage ability as back up heal for our Djinn Muirat just in case the opponent team had too much damage.
And all in all, we were very dominant in the battle and got ourselves a flawless victory.
IMPACT OF THE RULESET IN THE BATTLE:
Though Ferocity is a very substantial ruleset that can change the course of a battle, in this specific battle it did not play much of a major role that decided the battle. Rather Wands Out and Target Practice both were the deciding rulesets for the battle.
MVP:
Card | Kills | Contribution |
---|---|---|
3 | The MVP in the battle was definitely our Djinn Muirat that managed to eliminate 3 of the opponent monsters with it's Magic Reflect. With it's Void Armor ability paired with 4 armor, the opponent had a tough time taking it down. Therefore Djinn Muirat played it's part both offensively and defensively. |
