Hello Fellow Hivers!

This is @affliction here back again with a new Splinterlands post and this week our post will be featuring the rule set Equal Opportunity
If you are not sure what Splinterlands is, make sure to give this articles a read and at the end you will find some information to get started with the game.
ABOUT THE RULE SET:
All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
We know how deadly the abilities make the Splinterlads monsters. And one of the most deadly ability is Opportunity and most of the monsters having this ability are melee monsters.
Now, what if we can have a line up where all of the monsters are having Opportunity ability? Well, we can have that with this week's rule set, Equal Opportunity where all the monsters have this ability. Sounds fun, right? Let's find out!
BATTLE RULES :
- Mana Cap : 47
- Rule sets :
Close Range: Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
Equal Opportunity: All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Up to Eleven: All Monsters have the Amplify ability.
- Available Splinters :
Fire
THE LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 6 | 3 | Our choice of summoner for the battle was a level 3 Conqueror Jacek, the legendary Fire summoner from Chaos Legion Set. Though the summoner costs 6 mana, it creates an impact with it's buff abilities of +2 Speed, Piercing and Scattershot making it's monsters strong and unpredictable. | |
Position 1 | 12 | 8 | As our tank, we decided to play a level 8 Arkemis the Bear which is one of the new Promo cards. At this level, the card is havng 3 melee damage, 4 speed, 12 hp along with abilities of Protect Halving and Forcefield making it a solid tank. | |
Position 2 | 4 | 6 | In the second position, we are playing a level 6 Exploding Rats, the rare reward card with 3 melee damage, 7 speed and 1 hp. The card is an ideal glass cannon with the abilities of Blast and Redemption which makes it a must play card in a rule set like Equal Opportunity. | |
Position 3 | 11 | 3 | In the third position of our line up, we are playing a card that is often considered to be one of the better tanks from Chaos Legion set, Grum Flameblade. The level 3 version we are playing in this battle comes with melee damage of 4, 1 speed, 5 armor and 14 hp with Bloodlust Void Armor Void and Giant Killer. | |
Position 4 | 4 | 8 | In the next position, we are playing a level 8 Antoid Platoon with 2 melee damage, 2 speed, 3 shield and 4 hp with Shield and Scavenger making the card an amazing low mana tank. | |
Position 5 | 2 | 3 | Next, in the fifth position, we decided to play a level 3 Venator Kinjo, the Neutral support card with 1 melee damage, 2 speed, 3 hp with Reflection Shield Camouflage Immunity and Slow. | |
Position 6 | 8 | 3 | In the last position of our line up, we are playing another high damage dealer and our first ranged monster, a level 3 Countess Sinash with 4 Archery damage, 4 speed and 4 hp. The card also has Opportunity which adds no value since our featured rule set already gives all monster Opportunity. Thankfully, the also offers Camouflage Swiftness and Affliction making it one deadly card. |
THE OPPONENT LINE UP :
Position | Card | Mana | Level | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner | 6 | 3 | Like us, the opponent too chose to play a level 3 Conqueror Jacek and looks like this is going to be a very close battle. | |
Position 1 | 6 | 4 | In the first position, the opponent decided to go with Tusk the Wide as the tank. At level 4, the card comes with 2 melee damage, 1 speed and 13 hp along with Void and Inspire which means the card will act as a solid tank and buff the melee damage of the allies at the same time. | |
Position 2 | 11 | 3 | In the second position, the opponent has placed a level 3 Grum Flameblade, the card we are playing in the third position of our line up. | |
Position 3 | 3 | 3 | Next, in the third position, the opponent is playing one of the new soulbound reward card, that is shifting the meta with it's Martyr ability, Venari Marksrat. The level 3 copy of the Neutral card comes with 1 archery damage, 1 speed and 4 hp but we already know that the card is not used for it's stats. | |
Position 4 | 9 | 3 | In the fourth position, we are facing a level 4 Forgotten one, the heay hitting melee damage dealer with 4 melee damage, 2 speed, 5 armor and 9hp. However the card is best known for it's Immunity and Retaliate abilities. | |
Position 5 | 6 | 4 | In the fifth spot, we are facing a level 4 Pyromancer, an older reward card with 3 archery damage, 2 speed and 6 hp along with Blast and Knock Out. This one is an interesting choice of card. | |
Position 6 | 3 | 6 | At the last spot, we are facing a level 3 gold foil Iidri Fyre, a soulbound reward card from the Fire splinter that comes with no attack but can work as a tank with 4 speed, 4 armor and 9 hp along with the abilities Taunt and Redemption. |
THE HIGHLIGHTS :
- Round 1:
In the first round, our Exploding Rats was eliminated by the Forgotten One which happened to be the only casualty for the round as we were pushed to back foot.
- Round 2:
In this round, we finally fought back as our Antoid Platoon was able to take out the Iidri Fyre followed by a kill by our Grum Flameblade as it took out the Venari Marksrat and we were actually leading with five monsters standing compared to the opponent's four.
- Round 3:
The round started off with our Countess Sinash taking out the Pyromancer. Soon, the Grum got his second kill as it eliminated the Tusk the Wide leaving the opponent team with the last two cards.
- Round 4:
In this round, our Grum bagged his third kill of the battle as he took out the Forgotten One which means the opponent team's Grum was the last card standing as we were still left with five cards.
- Round 5:
In the fifth round, our Grum Flameblade finished it off in style as he took out the opponent team's Grum to bag his fourth kill and we get our deserved victory.

STRATEGY:
My strategy for the battle was to stack up as much speed as possible so that we were able to take out the opponent before they can attack us. The results did not quite show up in the first round as our Exploding Rats was taken out before we could take out any of the opponent cards but slowly the results began to show in the later rounds as we get ourselves an emphatic victory in five rounds. For the speed manipulation, apart from Conqueror Jacek we also relied on Slow from Venator Kinjo and Swiftness from Countess Sinash. As the defensive measure from Equal Opportunity we relied on the Protect from Arkemis the Bear. And for the main damage dealer, our trump card was Grum Flameblade for the battle.
MVP:
Card | Kills | Contribution |
---|---|---|
4 | Throughout the entire battle, our Grum Flameblade showed absolute dominance as it bagged 4 kills in total and without a doubt earned the title of the MVP of the battle. Grum's high melee damage paired up with the Piercing was a deadly combination. Usually Grum is not very high speed card that often misses it's opponent but since we have quite a few speed manipulation in place in the battle, none of Grum's attacks missed and it managed to get a kill in every round except the first one and it grew stronger with every kill with the Bloodlust ability. |
