Finding A Face In The Masses; Work Diaries
The alarm went off at exactly 4:00am on that fateful Monday morning. On a normal day I would have snoozed the alarm for about 30minutes; at 10minutes intervals. I did not this time, "today is a special day" I said to myself.
With a lightening speed, I was done with my morning expectations and stood in front of the mirror. I passed a final assessment on my general outlook; an overly ironed outfit that almost got burnt (laughs), a pair of low heel shoes on my feet, an easy and practical bag on my hand, I stepped out.
First impression counts and I had to look the part. Feeling all kinds of positives, I began my journey.
We were new recruits for a private organisation located at the heart of Accra. Successfully, we had passed our interview and we began our training to be able to blend into our new roles.
Two weeks intensive training was no child's play as we had to grasp at all the technicalities which also centered on scripts. Few days into the training I had not said much; learning, getting confused from time to time and finally took in what I could. On the third day, I asked my first question which took the class to a different level of engagement. My question arose series of questions in its wake. What a day it was(smiles).
A gentleman who was also part of us walked to me after the class and commended me on my contribution. We exchanged contacts and I didn't see him again the rest of the training. I reached out to him later and got to know he couldn't continue with us due to an emergency. Sad I became.
At last, some of us passed training and we began work the following week. Our first day on job met us with conditions not disclosed to us before we started , most of us including myself declined the offer afterwards.
While at home I kept in touch with the gentleman friend I made. He introduced me to a different company he was with and sent me a link to apply, I got in. That is my current working place now.
What Is The Significance Of This Story?
Being the best representation of ourselves even when no one is watching is an act that has a major reflection in our lives. It can either have positive or negative impact.
Speak, but not just to be heard. Our actions and utterances can either make or unmake us. Courtesy is in alignment with this and so is friendliness.Make connections with people when and where necessarily and uphold it.
I found a face that was initially unknown among the masses and made it known; it got me a job.
Isn't this networking? Indeed it is.
Your choice of words is calming. Thanks for presenting to us a diary of great experiences @adjapomah-i
Much appreciated @mcsamm
