Phillies SWEEP the Rays, begin Mets series on Friday
The Phillies got the job done 3-2 yesterday over the Rays in another very close game. The Phillies swept the Rays but it was not easy! They really had to work for these trio of victories.
I neglected to mention this yesterday because I was in a bit of a rush, but after the Phillies broke open the game Tuesday, Rays pitcher Edwin Uceta decided to hit Nick Castellanos with a pitch. Nothing too crazy happened but benches did clear and people were pretty heated. What a lame thing to do.

Yesterday, Nick Castellanos got a nice bit of revenge as he hit a two run shot to give the Phils a 2-0 lead!
Later, on his birthday, Weston Wilson hit a little dribbler infield hit that drove in the go ahead and eventual winning run.

As expected, Zack Wheeler pitched excellently. Six innings, two earned runs and NINE strikeouts. Not too shabby. He is a beast and still alive for the Cy Young.
The Phillies are now THIRTY games over .500 at 88-58, 8-2 in the month of September and the vibes are excellent in the City of Brotherly Love!!
The Phillies start an intense series with the Mets Friday. The Phillies are in absolute control of the NL East, but the Mets need to keep winning big time as they are BARELY a playoff team. As of this moment they sit in the third and final playoff spot with an 80-66 record with the Braves tight on their heels just a game behind the Mets.
The Phillies will see a lot of the Mets this month. They play a three game series starting tomorrow and then they see the Mets AGAIN for a FOUR game series on Thursday the 19th! Pretty nutty way to end the year. Between the Mets series the Phillies play the Brewers who are four games behind the Phillies for the best record in baseball. The competition remains strong!
The Phils still hold a game advantage over the Dodgers. The Dodgers kept pace with their win over the Cubs yesterday.
What fun stuff, October is approaching quick but a lot of things to be settled and played for still!
