Phillies played ok yesterday... except for Taijuan Walker.
So Taijuan Walker kind of officially sucks. Not sure what else there is to say or see from him at this point. The Phillies actually swung the bats pretty well, even the defense did it's job. Trea in particular had a great day, homering and making great stops at short.
It's a bit concerning Walker has been so bad but, hopefully come playoff time he won't be needed much, if at all.
Walker did have to face a scorching hot Mets team. The Mets are 16-4 in their past twenty games apparently. I knew they were hot but SHEESH. Maybe Walker gets a smidge of credit for this fact but, still he's been very bad in general and it's still no excuse. He gave up eight of the Mets' eleven runs by himself. Not good.
The Mets are really feeling themselves right now. I think seeing the Mets this close to the end of the season is a good thing though. In case the Phillies see the Mets in the playoffs and in general it's good to see a team playing so hot and desperate in general. The intense vibes can hopefully give the Phillies a sense of urgency in a way.
I'd love to see the Phillies really handle the Mets the next three games though. Maybe the Phils can help eliminate them somehow.
Cristopher Sanchez hits the mound and I'm confident he should give the Phillies a chance to win. Sanchez has been doing his thing.
The Phillies are now tied for the best record in baseball with the Dodgers who look hot in their own right with Ohtani creating the 50-50 club.
The Phillies seem overlooked in many ways. The Dodgers, Mets, and Yankees are all on track for the playoffs. Big market teams. It might be a good thing the Phillies enter the playoffs even slightly under the radar.
Big game tonight. Let's humble the Mets.
