Cards From My Personal Collection: Luis Castillo 2003 Topps Baseball Card
Luis Castillo had a really good career in the MLB as a second baseman from 1996-2010. He played for the Marlins, Twins, and Mets. But he's easily best known for being an, at the time, Florida Marlin. He was a Marlin for a decade from 1996-2005. Luis played in 1,128 games in a Marlin uniform and was a 3x All-Star and a 3x Gold Glove winner while with the team as well. Most notably, he won a World Series with the Marlins in 2003 against the New York Yankees. That was the first World Series I remember watching live.
Luis was a pretty good player all around, he seemed to only lack power. He had great speed, hit for a high average, and I already mentioned his Gold Gloves.
Luis ended up reaching 370 stolen bases in his career and his career batting average did not drop much, as he finished his career with a .290 average. He also had 1,889 hits in his career.
Pretty solid career for Castillo!
