Book Review: The Healing Balm by David Oyedepo

Over the years, I have said one of the things that have really shaped me and shaped my life is the fact that I have learnt how to read books. At the early stage of my life, I have come to understand the popular quote that said readers are leaders. The greatest disease that can ever happen to any man is the disease of ignorance and one of the things that I have done to be able to avoid ignorance is to get knowledge.

I have read several books and today I will be sharing with you one of the book I read years ago that shaped me and transformed my life and even till now. The book "The Healing Balm by Bishop David Oyedepo" has been an inspirational and life opening book that using the biblical principles helps me to understand in detail divine healing and how to use it not only for my life but people across my life.

Bishop David Oyedepo over the years have shaped me reading his books and I must say that till today it is still one of the renowned leaders that I didn't take for granted actually. In this book, Bishop Oyedepo makes use of that he uses everything including personal experience and even testimonies to make sure to come out with amazing healing principles.

Let me start from the context and overview of the book. As it is written by the founder of the living faith church worldwide, it is not an ordinary Christian book on healing, it is really an eye opener that helps to increase the faith in majorly God ability to heal. The book is structured in a way that it has a lot of chapters and each of these chapters helps to address different aspects when it comes to divine healing. One of the major statements I was able to pick is the fact that sickness is not actually a God plan and that sticks in my head for years.

The first theme and aspect of the book I was able to pick by reading it is to understand much more better the nature of divine healing. Using biblical principles as the one in Exodus 15:26, I was able to see that God is the Lord that heals. That emphasis that was actually made that sickness is not from God really stick in me and till now I have not forgotten it. The fact that we have been redeemed, sickness should not be our portion as we should have the right to divine health.

Another emphasis that was made in that book which I really learnt so much was the fact that Faith is the key to healing and should not be joked with. That really hit me so hard also. In this aspect, he point out in the book that faith is a necessity to key into divine healing as it is active not passive. Faith means believing in what God said without doubting and the book opened my eyes to see it in another way.

The third emphasis made in that book while reading is the fact that there is so much power in praying and also in the anointing. What do I mean by that? Bishop Oyedepo opens my eyes to see the need why every believer should come to the place of prayer with this boldness and assurance that He will hears us. Due to what I am focusing on, I will not be able to point out the prayers that was outlined in that book also to help produce result. Then over the years, I have been hearing about the anointing and anointing but reading that book opens my eyes to see it in another perspective as anointing is needed to help activate the divine healing.

Then the last part of the book that I love so much is the aspect that talks about the maintenance of your healing. I learnt while reading the book that healing or let me say divine healing should not be temporary but permanent and so we should not joke with it. One of the ways Bishop Oyedepo said that can help us maintain our healing is by Faith and that is we standing firm in faith in order to maintain the healing. I was able to learn and pick that one in the book and till now I have not forgotten that statement.

Gaining all the principles in this book, I have been able to get so much of personal insights about healing and most especially divine healing. Not only that but also I have been able to apply it in my life and even to people around me. There are instances people have complained to me about one sickness they have ranging from headache, stomach ache and whatever and I have been able to apply the principles therein and that has worked. For years, the principles have been able to helped me to stay healed.

As I conclude, The Healing Balm by Bishop David Oyedepo has been an eye opener book that I have read and will still read anytime anyday. I will recommend this book anytime and anyday because it has really transformed every single knowledge and mindset I have about Healing. If you are facing one illness or trying to have a life of divine health, trust me this book is for you as it will bring you to the promise of that divine healing.
