Red Eye
I mixed up elements of manhwa coloring with manga. It's still a sloppy work and I could see the errors post finish but then I remember it's just an exercise. I do these pieces to gauge how I improved and how much of the lessons from those tutorial videos I've picked up. I think I'll try going for a painterly look next time.
Thought process for artists curious:
This one is is a manhwa x manga 1.5:1 manga form of coloring. The use of the airbrush is more prevalent in manhwas than manga. Manhwa tends to use flat colors and air brush. Manga uses texture brushes where you see some checkered or speckled patterns for shadowing or implying texture to what is drawn.
I'm using iArtbook program on apple and it doesn't have brushes for manga. For some that aren't really into consuming manga or manhwa content, the difference in coloring techniques may not be apparent. While there's a good chance that it's manhwa if you see the content colored, there are manga that are published with colored versions out there too.
I'd say I need to improve on the line works but this exercise was nice gauge in checking I'm almost at a level for indie publishing. I don't really see myself working for the industry and this is just hobby stuff.
The QR code I use as a watermark leads to my @artofadamada account on Hive as a landing page whenever I share my work across other social media. I doubt I'd get a significant reach as I am now but if I can get more people curious about where that QR code leads, hopefully it converts to more sign ups on the platform.
