I Have No Imagination and I Must Paint

I Have No Imagination and I Must Paint is the first play of words I thought about when trying to rid myself of an art block. I recently encountered the work of Harlan Ellison's book titled "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" which is a catchy title but the contents are definitely not everyone's cup of tea. It's a morbid post-apocalyptic science fiction that has horror elements.

The QR code I use as a watermark leads to my @artofadamada account on Hive as a landing page whenever I share my work across other social media. I doubt I'd get a significant reach as I am now but if I can get more people curious about where that QR code leads, hopefully it converts to more sign ups on the platform.

I don't have a work in progress post for this one as I did it all in one session. I just let my hands draw whatever it wants when I did this. No real concept behind it but you're free to add your take.

I don't have a "fixed" style as I tend to experiment and try to expand my range. My old works used to be what you would see on those vintage political US editorial cartoons as that's when I had my semi formal training to draw while the rest have always been self taught. You may see me attempt drawing doodles and anime style but these are just episodes when I want to explore. I used to be an editorial cartoonist for my school until my English teacher said she can draw better than me and was an accomplished cartoonist for a real newspaper. That claim had no business being a constructive feedback but that was enough to make me quit the drawing for a while.

The safest style is just sticking to black and white colors and do caricatures like editorial cartoons. I'm confident in my skill to at least cover those type of illustrations but these weren't the type of illustrations I want to excel at. Think of it as being good at something you're not even interested and still sucking at things you want for yourself. So as I struggle to digitally illustrate of paint my way to get better, I'll take any criticism for anyone that calls my work shit because we're going to be both in agreement that it's not really all that at the moment.

I can't imagine because I have an art block but I must paint.
