LEADERSHIP AND THE RESPONSIBILITY THAT COMES WITH IT.

I welcome us back to my blog for week 32. I want to pick the first prompt that says - Tell us about a time you were required to step into a phase of leadership. This is so amazing. When I saw the topic I first remembered when I was giving a special task to do in school as a class governor.

I went to school a bit late so I don't even know what is happening in school especially the higher institution. After living school for a very long time I saw everything going on there very strange when I got admission to study English language combination of Igbo language. I was just looking like a zombi. Hahaha 😂. Please 🙏 don't laugh at me because I don't like people laughing at mw when I am very serious. Haha 😂.

The very first week I resumed school and started attending lectures I made lots of friends. Because of the kind of person that I am is not difficult for me to mingle with people even with the age difference. Maybe that trait in me was what exposed me to the point of leadership.

I was one of the most serious students because I was very eager to learn. So, one faithful day our English lecturer asked who will be the class governor for the whole English department. We all stood there looking at the lecturer without uttering a word. He just moved closer to me and asked me to become the class governor. Ahhhhn! That was what just came out of my mouth. I don't know what it means to be a class governor. So, I tried to lay a complain but no one was ready to listen. What ot then means is that I have no choice than to accept the responsibility given to me.

CLASS GOVERNOR WORK WAS A PLACE FOR LEARNING FOR ME.
As an amateur class governor I made lots of mistakes, but the good thing is that I was ready to learn. I saw myself learning from children young enough to be my own children. But it wasn't a problem for me so that made it easier. I started the job and soon I started enjoying the benefits of been a class governor. In fact that was the sweetest part of the job.

SOME OF THE BENEFITS
I discovered that there are lots of benefits when you are representing your class as the class governor. O had unrestricted access to my lecturers. I got almost a the text books for free. I also got a little cash from the money that is been contributed by the whole class to run one or two things. I also got the chance to type a the work that needs to be typed for the whole class and I will definitely keep the money.

SIDE EFFECTS OF A CLASS GOVERNOR
aside from all that I have mentioned that I benefits from been a class governor, I also faced lots of challenges that made me want to quit at a time. The students stubbornness is another problem all together. I don't have time of my own. A lecturer can send for me at anytime and I must live whatsoever I am doing to answer the lecturer. If there will be no lectures I will have to take the pains to call the students and inform them. All of these and lots more.

In summary, leadership position comes with responsibility, giving in means to avail oneself to carry the responsibility.
