I had a very terrible experience nine years back when I was about to write my WAEC. I had a little laptop and a photocopy machine at home that has been helping me raise money for my studies and also for that of my kids to an extent. Most times I get school work like exams questions, typing work and the rest of them. At that point even though I am in school, I never felt bad because I needed money or anything that will be an obstacle for me. The journey was moving smoothly. And I was happily moving.

It happened that some people have been targeting how to do away with those machines that I have been using to make money at home. One Sunday morning, we all prepared and went to church by 6 am. It was very unfortunate for us that day because all my neighbors also went to church that early. After we left for church, the whole street become quite and visitors decided to visit the street that Sunday. This type of visitors don't inform you when they are coming. They come as though they own the whole place. I was the first that came back from church.

To my surprise the front door that I personally locked was now opened. I looked around and did not see any of my child at home. I called out to know who was at home, but no one responded. That was when it was done on me that thieves has paid us a visit. Moving into my living room, I noticed that everything has been scattered. I checked my room, the door has been broken too. I checked my children's room, same thing has happened. But my major concerned was my laptop and other machine that I do work with. So, I rushed to where it was kept and noticed that everything has been moved out.

I tried reaching out to the police, I was asked to provide all documents that shows that the property stolen belongs to me. And I did as requested. But all of that didn't change the fact that my property Worth of seven hundred thousand naira has been made away with.

The family was at this time in a bad mood. This was the only source of income for us at that time, because my husband lost his job no to long.

At this point, I told myself that this is the end of my studies. I started thinking of what else to do that will help me make money.

Tell us about a time when someone did something good for you. It was out of the blue, and not because you deserved it. The person just did it from the goodness of their heart.

I was shocked on the first day of this incident. My friend visited and after exchanging pleasantries. She gave me a check in my hands and asked me to manage it and look for something to do with it that will put me back on my feet again. Friends, I thought that it was a check of maybe five or ten thousand naira. But I was shocked to my bones to discover that the money that I was sopposed to go and withdraw from the bank on Monday will buy back every thing that was stolen and I will still have some change remaining. I have never received a gift like that before. I know that not even myself or my husband deserve that kindness, but it is God in action. That was when I know that God really want me to further my education. Because before that day I have kissed my education good bye.

How did that act affect you?
It gave me hope again.

But here comes a fresh hope for again. I saw a glimpse of light to continue with my studies. Though the light was very deem, but it was encouraging. I was again motivated.

The lessons for me from what happened to us.

The coming of the thieves was only for me to know that what God has planned for you, no amount of trouble will stop it. Instead, those troubles will help you become stronger and wiser to move on to your destiny.
