When I was a little girl, my mother would put me to bedtime some cassettes that contained the audios of some of the Disney movies, among them, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, the Three Little Pigs, so you could say that my relationship with this type of format comes from my childhood, plus until recently there was a tape in which my mother recorded me singing during various stages of my childhood.

On the other hand, when I was a teenager my relationship with cassettes became closer as a good young girl I loved to listen to my favorite music and have on hand the songs of the singers or bands of the moment, sometimes as I did not have the money to buy the vinyl record or cassette of the singer or group in question, I waited anxiously for a radio station to play the song to record it, At the same time I prayed to God that the announcer did not talk too much at the beginning or at the end of the song, or I asked a friend, if they had had the opportunity to buy the record, to record it for me, so I became an expert in this subject of cassettes, since there were of all types and quality, so recording the music in the best quality ones ensured better and better sound quality.

So I can say without a doubt that the cassette was the format that I used the most to listen or play music during my youth, then came the CD and other formats and the cassette simply left the equation, but it was the one that was formed and very used by me.

Now, why I bring up this format, it was very funny the day my son who was born at the beginning of this century, specifically 2002, saw a cassette at home and did not know what the heck it was, much less how it was used, for me it was something fun and at the same time made me notice how time and advances in technology are leaving for memory and oblivion some tools that at the time were very useful and the last boom.

For my benefit and to teach my son how to play the content of a cassette and how to record in this format, at home I still have the last stereo I bought and, although it still works, not perfectly, but it does, so I clarified to my son because that stereo instead of having a single cassette player has two, I explained to my son why that stereo instead of having only one cassette player has two, because sometimes it was necessary to record from one cassette to the other and so the explanation was extended logically going through the stories that sometimes a pen was used to rewind it and not forgetting the tragedy if that tape got tangled in the heads of the player and I did not fail to include some of my personal experiences when I was a young girl of his age or even younger.

Finally, I must say that explaining all that to my son, brought back many memories and it was fun to show him how it was used and how to listen to it, I even searched the internet for images of a Walkman, now I would like you, people with gray hair like me, do not pretend, I know you have them, maybe you paint them with hair dye, tell me if something similar has happened to you with any other equipment like a Beta Max, VHS, turntable or what I know what other, that comes to your mind a hug and until a future publication.

Cuando era una niña pequeña, mi madre me colocaba a la hora de dormir unos casetes que contenían los audios de algunas de las películas de Disney, entre ellos, La Bella Durmiente, Peter Pan, la Dama y el Vagabundo, los Tres Cochinitos, así que se podría decir que mi relación con este tipo de formato viene desde mi infancia, además de que hasta hace poco por allí había una cinta en la que mi madre me grabo cantando durante diversas etapas de mi niñez.

Por otra parte, cuando ya era una adolescente mi relación con los casetes se hizo más cercana como buena joven me encantaba escuchar mi música favorita y tener a la mano las canciones de los cantantes o bandas del momento, a veces como no contaba con el dinero para comprar el disco de vinilo o casete del cantante o grupo en cuestión, esperaba ansiosamente que alguna emisora radial colocara la canción para grabarla, al mismo tiempo que le rogaba a Dios que el locutor no hablara demasiado al comienzo o al final de la canción, o le pedía a algún amigo, si habían tenido la oportunidad de comprar el disco que me lo grabara, así que me volví toda una experta en este tema de los casetes, ya que los había de todo tipo y calidad, así que el grabar la música en los de mejor calidad se aseguraba mayor y mejor calidad de sonido.

Así que puedo decir sin lugar a dudas que el casete fue el formato que más utilice para escuchar o reproducir música durante mi juventud, luego llegó el CD y otros formatos y el casete, simplemente salió de la ecuación, pero de que fue el formado y muy utilizado por mí lo fue.

Ahora bien, ¿por qué traigo a colación este formato?, fue muy gracioso el día que mi hijo que quien nació a comienzos de este siglo, específicamente 2002, vio un casete en casa y no sabía qué rayos era, y mucho menos como se usaba, para mí fue algo divertido y al mismo tiempo me hizo notar como el tiempo y los avances de la tecnología van dejando para el recuerdo y olvido algunas herramientas que en su momento fueron muy útiles y el último boom.

Para mi beneficio y lograr enseñarle a mi hijo cómo se reproducía el contenido de un casete y como se grababa en este formato, en casa todavía conservo el último estéreo que compre y, aunque todavía funciona, no a la perfección, pero lo hace, así le aclare a mi hijo porque ese estéreo en lugar de tener un solo reproductor de casete tiene dos, ya que a veces era necesario grabar de un casete al otro y así se extendió la explicación lógicamente pasando por las historias de que a veces se utilizaba un bolígrafo para rebobinarlo y sin olvidar la tragedia si aquella cinta se enredaba en los cabezales del reproductor y no deje de incluir algunas de mis experiencias personales de cuando era una joven de su edad o incluso menor.

Finalmente, debo decir que explicarle todo aquello a mi hijo, me trajo muchos recuerdos y fue divertido mostrarle como se usaba y como se escucha incluso le busque en internet imágenes de un Walkman, ahora me gustaría que ustedes, personas con canas al igual que yo, no finjan, sé que las tienen, tal vez se las pinten con tinte para el cabello, me comentaran si les ha ocurrido algo similar con algún otro equipo como un Beta Max, VHS, tocadiscos o que sé yo que otro, que les venga a la mente un abrazo y hasta una próxima publicación.
