"Well Kept Secrets" on Flying Under The Radar on Hive

I have a dream, that one day, this nation will... Well, no, I actually don't have any dreams anymore but I did have one at some point, about five years ago, to make myself a name here, and by god I did had all the chances in the world to do that, but something went wrong.

I started on the left foot when I thought everybody is equal and went even further into the shit when ignored the bid bots that were making pale faces shine on the trending page in exchange for a few hard-earned tokens. I was still living in the mirage where presidents are elected by the masses and not actually "selected by the elites".

I started slow on the dance floor with four posts a day that would take sometimes even half a day to produce and left little to less time to engage with others. Such a great strategy of going after that dream of mine held me back from "going public" for ages. As a matter of fact, I only managed to hit the trending page for the first time ever a few days ago with this post and I doubt I will have a second chance.

When it rains, it pours, but when the dry season starts, you better get your umbrella out of the closet. Being new in an environment/community and not bothering to grasp the mechanism and the gears spinning its wheels is for sure a well-kept secret of mine on how to fly under the radar on Hive. You don't just plug and play in here, you first have to read the menu.

Do you know what should always be first on the Hive menu when looking to fly high and stay there?...

Whale fat. Yeah, I know, too much fat can cause heart attacks, but at least you get the taste of the good life until that fat kills ya. I ran from the whales right from the beginning as I held myself far from paying for upvotes. I guess these fatty ones sensed that cuz never got too many of them, friends, with me, and it's probably too late to cure that.

No whale friends, no power-up to make for a decent circle-jerking group, no exposure. It's that simple... If you think it goes the other way, try it on your own, but it would be nothing more than valuable time wasted on a trail already paved by failure. It's whales that spin the waves, so you better make friends with them and you might get lucky, they might not eat you alive... ;).

When you're an individualistic stubborn motherfucker, you don't follow trends and you take no challenges. I used to be one of these for almost the entire time spent in here. The only so-called trending challenge on Hive that I took was the 30 days writing challenge of @dragosroua who actually made me the consistent blogger I am today, but I never followed the trails the big boys were paving for the minnows. I simply didn't feel like doing that.

Paved my own front yard and got eaten by the dirt.

I have not followed trends and neither have I fallen for niches. I believe that sticking to my own bullshit kept me "active" for four and half years. Had I been more flexible and niche-oriented I'd probably be flying the first class right now, but that's not the case for me.

I'm not into cuddling either. I see so many newcomers and also remember the many from my early days on Hive trying to glue themselves to big accounts through nice, polite and ass-licking comments and I have to say that this is clearly not the way and definitely not me. I might be wrong, being excessively nice and friendly might help you with the exposure around here, but I believe you have to be born with that, which I am obviously not.

The creme de la creme is to be found on the trending page and that's where the whales are feeding themselves, so if you wanna get remarked you should be hanging with those over there, but I developed a sense of repulsion towards that page ever since I realized that most of the posts that were getting there, prior to the Steem hard fork, were bots sent, and thus avoided consuming artificially boosted content. That might not be the case anymore, but scrolling through the trending page posts is not my cup of tea.

If you don't want to be like me you should definitely go there and post a comment or two on every post you feel like, you might get lucky, and sooner than later you will be featured in that section. Unless flying under the radar is what you want from your Hive experience.

Every yard has its own dog shit and I was often the one who spotted the shit and stepped on it so it could smell "better and stronger". I've done that in the Steem era and couldn't stop myself from doing it since we forked to Hive either. You must bring the pus to the surface for the wound to heal and trust me every living entity has a few wounds to heal once in a while.

Ace was never a nice guy, not in the real life and definitely not onchain, thus I can say I've somehow created my own bad luck, so if you wanna be like me, just follow these simple steps and I guarantee you will fly under the radar on Hive for the rest of your life. It's that simple.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

Just keep grinding. No need for 4 posts a day, though.
You'll only get my one upvote daily, hehe. All manual and I read every post of yours.
