Knock - Knock

Winter can be a dreary season without snow, wouldn't you agree? Well, if you're accustomed to warm or even hot winters and lack experience with snow, my sentiments might not resonate with you. However, those who grew up with abundant snow during winters can understand what I'm getting at.

It's been years since we've experienced proper snow during winter in this part of the world, and as March approaches, the chances of snow diminish even further. But you know the saying, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."

The pictures I'm about to share in this post were taken last Sunday during my brief trip to Kladovo, Serbia, where I had lunch with a couple of friends and enjoyed some engaging conversation in a cozy restaurant.

Upon entering the town, it resembled a ghost town. Typically bustling with people during the summer months, the streets were now deserted, and outdoor dining areas lay empty, as depicted in the first picture of this post.

However, the restaurants were bustling with activity; nearly all of them were full. Fortunately, luck was on our side as there were only three of us, and we managed to secure a table at the last restaurant on the avenue. As we began our meal, crowds gathered at the entrance, eagerly waiting for available tables.

Surprisingly, about 80% of the diners in this small Serbian town on Sunday afternoon were Romanians. Thanks to the delightful weather, many tourists from my town's vicinity flocked to Serbia to dine. You might wonder why.

The answer is quite simple: the food is far superior to what's available here, the hospitality is exemplary, and the prices are relatively low considering the quality offered. While prices were even lower a few years ago, they've gradually increased as demand skyrocketed.

Although I'm not what you'd call a gourmet, I relish the Serbian cuisine and have sampled a variety of dishes. However, my absolute favorite, which I consider a guilty pleasure, is the pleskavica—a type of burger that I indulged in during this visit.

The weather forecast predicts above-average temperatures for the entire month ahead, and flowers are already starting to bloom prematurely. Unfortunately, a recurring pattern over the past few years is that after the trees and flowers bloom, a spell of bitterly cold days follows, causing everything to freeze over.

It's starting to feel like the weather is artificially manipulated these days... Perhaps it is. Who knows? That's all from me for now. I wish you all a fantastic day, and until next time, take care.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

Serbia is a perfect destination for culinary tourism :)
My favorite meat dish is veshalica from smoked meat but I also like pleskavitsa, the one with a chilly pepper inside it :)

I am not sure they serve it everywhere, I tried it somewhere between Beograd and the Hungarian border, I don't remember where exactly ;)
The best veshalica I ever had :)

Sunny buildings look attractive against the dark sky.

Looking at the pictures I felt so (like it's a deserted town) seeing nobody outside. Just surprised you said the inside is choked up with lots of people. Anyway, its always good to have fun with good company, enjoy yourself.
