Eibenthal... And Kofola
In yesterday's post, I shared some photos from our short trip to Eibenthal, a small Romanian village with a rich Czech tradition, unique population, and even a distinctive name. We also stopped there for dinner, and it was my first time visiting the place. I kind of liked it.
The restaurant, as you'll see in the pics, is cozy, designed with a Czech-inspired aesthetic, and has a warm, inviting vibe. It shares the village’s name and is also the brand of a locally brewed beer.
Interestingly, I’ve never seen that beer in stores, which makes me think it’s mainly for local consumption and possibly export. And the food? Well, not much to rave about...
The menu offers a few traditional dishes alongside some internationally recognized options like a burger. I opted for the burger. It was a bit small for my appetite but tasted decent. I also tried a traditional cookie and their "homemade" version of Coca-Cola, called Kofola.
As for Kofola? Pretty much the same impression as the burger—nothing to write home about. However, the nut-and-powdered-sugar cookie was absolutely delicious.
Overall, the restaurant is a nice spot, and the journey to get there is fantastic, full of twists, turns, and a seemingly never-ending uphill stretch.
I’ll probably visit again in the summer. That’s all from me for now—wishing you all a great Monday. See you next time!
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
