All Horses Are Born Equal

What a wild ride we've been on in the crypto world lately! Bitcoin has surged by $10,000 in just one week, and some "trusted influencers" predict that we're headed for a parabolic rise. Personally, I haven't been shaken out during the recent correction that lasted about four months...

Even if we don't see any significant gains soon, I still believe we're in a bull market. We've been in one since BTC broke through $15,000 and left it in the dust, a level it might never revisit. The bull market will likely last until the very last bear turns into a bull.

Portfolios have experienced their fair share of ups and downs in 2024, and if your coins are still in the red, don't panic. I know it's tempting to chase pumps like WLD, PONKE, and those Trump coins, but don't let that sway you. I've been there, done that, and it didn't end well.

After seven years in crypto, I've learned a thing or two about how these markets work, which is why I'm not panicked. I've also learned not to give up on my investments, even when they're struggling. Remember, when you chose the coins that make up your portfolio, you made a conscious decision based on some strong reasoning. Why would you throw all that out the window and dump your coins chasing pumps?

In fact, doing so would be the worst thing you could do, as you'd likely miss out on important gains. In 99% of cases, when you dump your coins, they'll wake up and start performing well just as you miss out on the opportunity to buy back in. You'll end up FOMO-ing back in just in time for their next correction or pause, only to become disillusioned once again.

You'll start looking for other top performers, and you'll dump your initial bag, repeating this cycle until you're left with a decimated portfolio at the end of the bull market, missing out on important gains. I know this all too well, as I've done this very same thing in 2021.

If XRP is experiencing a significant pump, it's almost certain that many other coins in your portfolio will follow suit. Bull markets tend to reward all participants, and with the right choices during the bear market, you can expect to see a 10X return on your investment.

The key to avoiding the temptation of chasing pumps is to understand that not all coins will experience their parabolic runs at the same time. Some will pump early, while others will come later, but ultimately, all coins will perform well as capital moves between them during the bull market. This pattern repeats itself in every cycle.

In 2021, DOGE reached its peak in May, following a 400X rally, and then the bubble deflated. Much of DOGE's market share likely moved to other alts. If you look at different altcoins, you'll notice they all have different peak dates.

What's more important than chasing pumps and gambling on the bull market is to stick to your plan, hold onto your coins, even if they're underperforming temporarily, and have an exit plan when they start to skyrocket. Parabolic trends typically last a couple of months to half a year before peaking.

In the previous bull market, the parabolic trend formed at the end of the halving year (2020) and peaked in May 2021. While the actual peak for most altcoins came in November 2021, you'd need to endure a severe correction to catch it. This time might be different.

We may see altcoins rally for months on end, and when that happens, I plan to take profits. I'm not here to time the market; I'm here to make money and avoid the next bear market's pitfalls. For me, the market topped in May 2021 for that cycle, and I'm looking for a similar outcome this time around.

Consider this information and make your own decisions. Most importantly, if your portfolio looks weak now, be patient – the "everything season" will come.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

I'm a dumb veteran who hopes he's become smarter over the years and that he can make it good this bull market. Appreciate your comments by the way.
