What do you know about Breast Cancer?
Hello everyone, it is with great pleasure that I write to share my entry with you all in this community. I hope you guys are doing well just as I am doing too. I will be writing this post as an entry to this week's engagement challenge and in this post, I will write about the second topic. Today in this post I will be writing about Breast cancer, its causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and possible prevention methods.
Breast cancer awareness month which we all know to be October is a special month whereby we are entreated with the dangers associated with breast cancer and also how to prevent it. Breast cancer is a potentially life-threatening disease that needs much attention in order not to be a victim. It occurs when cells in the breast proliferate as a result of uncontrolled growth of the cells. Generally, the beast has five stages which range from 0 to IV. Stage 0 is known to be non-invasive and stage IV is known to be the metastatic stage where the lump can be transferred to other parts of the body.
Breast cancer is common in females but rare in males. There hasn’t been an exact cause of breast cancer but some common factors can be the cause of it and they include the following; inheritance, aging, radiation exposure, hormone replacement therapy, etc. These are just some risk factors as far as breast cancer is concerned, let’s look at some symptoms and signs of breast cancer.
The following include some of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer; lump in the breast, discharge from the nipple, change of skin on the breast, and change in shape or size of the breast. When any one of you notices these signs or symptoms, then he or she should try and visit the hospital for a checkup before things become uncontrollable.
The first diagnosis of breast cancer is the detection of lumps in the breast through regular breast self-examination and mammograms. A further diagnostic examination such as biopsy, MRI, and ultrasound is done for confirmation. In order to treat breast cancer, the stage of it also plays an important role here. The following includes; chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, surgery, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy.
Some of the ways of reducing the risk of developing breast cancer include the following; avoiding smoking, through self-examination, limiting the intake of alcohol, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle of living. It should be noted that Cancer can be treated especially when it is detected earlier and as such we need to be checking up on our breast regularly to ensure that it is safe and healthy.
Thank you all for your time and attention, I am very glad to have shared this here, watch out more in my subsequent posts.
