The Birth of Jesus Christ
Greetings to everyone here once again. I am very excited to be part of this community, and today I would like to write about and share with you guys an exciting topic about which I was sent a video to watch and learn from. The topic for discussion today is "The Birth of Jesus Christ." Follow me as we talk on this topic today.
From Brother Eli Soriano in his teachings from the video, Brother Eli Soriano said, "There is no place in the Bible where it is mentioned that the birth of Jesus Christ was celebrated in the first century." He also mentioned that the celebration of Christmas by many people does not make it biblical or valid.
There is no record in the Bible that Mary and Joseph celebrated the birth of Jesus. Brother Eli Soriano referenced the story in Luke, Chapter 2, verses 41 to 50. This indicates that if they had celebrated the birth of Jesus, then it should have been the parents who did that first and that it would have been written in the Bible.
According to 1 Corinthians 11:26, "For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he comes." This means that in the first century, people rather celebrated his death than his birth.
This is based on the belief that the death of a righteous person is better than his birth. This is referenced in Ecclesiastes 7:1, which states, "A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of one's birth."
The first-century Christians did not celebrate their birthday because they believed that with their death, they had finished their service to God, and that is what they celebrated. This is why they do not celebrate the birth of Christ but instead celebrate his death.
Also, from the book of Psalms 116:15, it says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." That is, when they die serving the Lord, Satan loses his power to separate them from the Lord. The Christians in the first century remembered the death of Jesus because they believed that what was important for God was the death of his servant.
From the book of revelations, Chapter 14, verses 12–13. It says, "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." And I heard a voice from heaven say to me, "Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."
This tells us that when the servant of the Lord dies, it is like he has graduated from God's service. All throughout the Bible, it is the service and achievements of Jesus that are appreciated the most, not his birthday. "There is no single verse in the Bible that tells us that first-century Christians celebrated the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ." No."
