Newbies Task 7 - A Quick Review about my journey so far in this Initiative

avatar

Greetings all and sundry here on this noble platform, I welcome you all again to my blog for another entry to the newbies initiative task. Surprisingly, this initiative is coming to an end and will be our last entry into this initiative. I never thought we would have ended so fast and early like this. Seven (7) weeks just passed and gone in a twinkle of an eye, but what matters is that it was really worth it. In response to this week's task, I would cover the questions we were provided to answer. Without wasting much time, I would set the ball rolling for this task.

What do you think of the Newbies Initiative, and how has it helped your Hive journey? How have the tasks given been helpful?

Okay, to start with, I would like to first of all, thank the leaders and tutors of this great initiative for bringing out such a wonderful initiative. I think as a newbie on every platform, it is necessary to be educated and guided on the platform so as to know the do's and don'ts of the platform because going astray can cause you to be punished. This initiative (newbies initiative) on hive blockchain is one of those that have taken charge of that and frankly speaking, it is really nurturing newbies on the platform the most. The newbies initiative is one of the best initiatives that should be given more attention than any other initiative on the platform. I am saying this because, we need an initiative or a community that would help or guide newbies to better understand the platform the most, rather than just joining here and doing whatsoever they want which can later put them into problems when they go against the rule of the platform.

The newbies initiative to me, is doing more good than harm to users because it helps them to explore better and also know the basics of the platform as well. This initiative also teaches newbies how to make quality content so they can earn on their publications as well. I like the fact that this initiative nurtures newbies about how to safeguard your hive keys, and also delves deeper into the functions of the various Hive Keys we have.

I personally have really enjoyed being part of this initiative and it has really aided me a lot on my journey here on the Hive platform. First of all, this initiative has introduced me to the various Hive Dapps that we have and their respective functions as well. Before joining this platform, I never knew the use of the 3Speaks frontend but guess what, I can now boast of myself that I am now acquainted with the 3Speak frontend and I can now create video content of my choice and upload there without any stress.

Secondly, this initiative has taught me the dos and donts of the Hive platform, the usage of markdowns in our posts, and the creation of thumbnails using Canva. Although, before I joined this platform, I was used to some of the markdowns like center, bold, and italics, I didn't know of Justify and some of the complex ones. Today, I can say that I am a markdown guru on the Hive platform lol, haha. As every platform has its own rules and regulations, this initiative helped me to understand what is supposed of me on the Hive platform and what I am supposed not to do. These included not tagging whales or curators, not begging for votes, avoiding plagiarism, sourcing images or content taken from the internet, and many more.

In addition, this initiative has really made me deeply understand the various hive keys including their functions, and also, I learned how to change my recovery account on the Hive platform using the PeakD frontend. Moreover, I got to learn and know about tipping tokens and how they can be gifted to other users on the Hive platform. I used to hear about tipping on hive but I did not know how to do that until initiative task 5 came to make clarifications to me. I also got to know about how some users misuse or abuse these tipping tokens on the Hive platform. Before being a member of this initiative, I only knew about only one Decentralized Exchange (DEX) platform that is Hive-Engine, but through this initiative, I got to know more including BeeSwap, Leodex, and Tribaldex.

Lastly, this initiative gave me more insight into Blockchain games on the Hive blockchain and the benefits of playing those games as compared to the usual games we play always on consoles and the rest. I did enjoy this part of the lesson a lot maybe because I love playing games lolz. In a nutshell, this initiative including all the tasks given has really impacted my journey positively on the Hive platform.

What aspects of the Initiative do you believe we could enhance, and how?

As there are always downfalls in running initiatives, this newbie initiative was also having some lapses as well. First, of all, the manner of our Discord meetings was poor. Why do I say so, the team leaders sometimes do have a poor network on their part and this doesn't help us to have a full hearing in order to understand the course perfectly. Also, with regard to the meetings, a lot of members were not joining meetings and theirs was to only read announcement task posts and then submit their entries. I think there should always be some kind of giveaways to the students that always join meetings so as to serve as an encouragement and motivation for more users to join. It would be very disgusting as a leader to see just a few people always in meetings but at the end of the day, you receive numerous entries for the task given.

In addition, I think the voting section of this initiative also must be worked on. Since I joined this initiative, it was said that we might be receiving "theycallmedan" votes on some of our initiative tasks but frankly speaking, I have never earned not even one vote from him on my initiative task lol. That is not really a big deal to me, but trust me, remember we set some goals at the start of this initiative and before we can achieve that, we would definitely need the support from the leaders as well. How can we achieve those goals without getting support on our posts? Maybe that would be a rhetorical question, by the way.

Moreover, the time for the publication of the initiative tasks or homework usually comes in late. Homework usually comes in late most times, it would have been nice to receive assignments after the next day after the meeting is held so that students can get more time to attend to them and answer them perfectly without any rush.

What value do you think you can offer to the initiative?

Hmmm, maybe this question would have best been answered after my graduation but all the same, I would like to deliver it now since it has been asked now. Well, I love playing games a lot and I have already been accustomed to most of the Hive blockchain games such as splinterlands, GodsUnchaine and quest for Stoken. As a matter of that, I can add more value to the aspect of teaching newbies how to play and earn on Hive blockchain through playing these games.

In addition, as a computer literate, I can help incoming newbies about how to use markdowns so that their posts appear attractive. I can also, assist in getting newbies that are qualified to participate in this initiative so that they can learn something new on the platform just as I did.

Remember the Newbies Initiative Task 1 where you were asked to set down your goals. Show us a recount of your goals and how far you have come through.

Yes, I can remember I set out some goals in my first task, and I would dig down and provide the results here so for the benefit of this task, to indicate my progress so far after joining this task.

From the screenshot shown below which is captured in my task 1 entry, I

image.png

From the screenshot below, I was having 484.20 HP at the start of this initiative and I set my goals at 700 HP.

image.png

With hard work and dedication, I have been able to achieve that goal and I have 719.77 HP now as we can see from the screenshot shown above. That was great to achieve there. I am happy about that.

Next, from the screenshot below, we can see my current followers and following, and comparing that with my goals set, I have completely achieved that too as well.

image.png

I plan of increasing my followers from 53 to 70 and now I have 74 followers. Whilst I planned to get 80 following and now I have 107 following users, which indicated a successful goal achieved here too.

In my first task, I was having 406 comments and as of now, I have made 1,854 comments made, which clearly indicates a successfully achieved goal.

image.png

Finally, I can remember I set a target for my reputation as well, so with that, my reputation was at 64.422 during the start of this initiative. Currently, as I write this post, my reputation is sitting at 65.975

image.png

With this, I set my goal at 66 reputations, and with my current Rep, possibly a single vote can push me to that level for sure. This indicates that I am just closer to achieving that too, and I think before this post pays out I would definitely achieve that too.

I am very glad to successfully achieve all the goals that I set in task 1 of this initiative. I would like to send my profound gratitude and appreciation to all the tutors, organizers, supporters, leaders, and my colleague newbies that have made this journey a successful one. 7 weeks haven't been easy but we His grace we have sailed through it successfully. It was really fun and interesting being part of such a great initiative. Thank you all for your support.

Congratulations on achieving your goals man. The initiative has indeed been a blessing that every newbies should be a post of. It’s really true about the meetings. Few students turned up usually but a lot more did the tasks. The rewards although were never guaranteed would have motivated more.

Yeah, probably they would work on how they set their meetings and also the rewards as well to help motivate students to have more interest in this initiative.

Yeah! I only got one task upvoted by theycallmedan and some of the task did not received curation at all so sometimes that feels discouraging to newbies.

Yeah, that is very discouraging, especially to newbies. They need to work on that aspect as well.

Oh man, you were truly very active. You made more than 1000 comments in 7 weeks. That is impressive. 👏👏
Now you have one more follower (me), so you are even closer to achieving that goal very soon. 😃

It's that theycallmedan aspect for me😂😂
My brother, I understand sha but well, I love the fact that you still looked above the globe of what they could offer financially and appreciated what they offered knowledge-wise.

You've made wonderful contributions which I believe that when applied, the initiative will be better for the next set of students.

That's quite massive increase in HP, you're gradually becoming a whale ☺️

A great achievement i must say better than most, you did pretty great for the 7 weeks,

Am only interested in the blockchain games and markdowns you talked about it really caught my interest because those two have been a headache to me

How ever i think the leaders did a very great job intializing this initiative maybe they were too busy to release assignments on time. All in all i appreciate every effort put into this
