Alexa’s Call.

This trio, named “The Ace” consists of three childhood friends named Alexis, Christopher and Emmanuel. It has always been their ritual to always go out every Sunday because it’s their off day from work. And every Sunday, they always play a game to decide on the person who will foot the bills.

“What kind of game are we playing this time around, Alexis asked as that’s the first thing they think about and consider before they order anything wherever they are.

Let’s play a game I saw online. Whoever’s girlfriend who calls first will pay the bills, this was like a trap for Emmanuel. Everyone knows his girlfriend calls him even more than his mum does. Christopher really wants to make sure that Emmanuel pays this time around.

It looks like you guys really want me to foot the bills. Why not come directly instead of twisting the whole thing?, he lost hope already and knew he will be the one to pay for it.

On their serving platter, there is no food you won’t find. They ordered for baked cheese, french fries, some porks surrounded by roasted veggies and a very sweet lemon juice alongside with a milkshake. It felt like a feast and this got people in the restaurant thinking if they had more than ten people who wanted to eat the meal.

Before we go on, the rules to this game is that our phone speaker must be put on, we shouldn’t text our girlfriends till we’re done eating and no one tells another party about the game till someone’s call comes in, Christopher made the rules and was so happy because he’s jealous of Emmanuel. Emmanuel is always lucky in games like this and ever since they begun the game, Emmanuel has never for once paid the bills.

Emmanuel could not eat well. The cutlery was shaking in his hands while his friends were laughing at him because he’s surely going to lose the game. There’s no way he will escape it.
Christopher took the biggest chicken on the serving platter to celebrate Emmanuel’s forthcoming loss.

Just as he was about to bite the chicken, his phone rang. On checking who is was, it was his girlfriend, Alexa.

Arghhh, thank God. I know I’m always lucky and that happened right again, Emmanuel screamed at the peak of his voice and at that moment, he became the cynosure of the restaurant. People wondered what happened.
Christopher never thought that will happen to him because his girlfriend doesn’t call all the time which meant that there was something wrong somewhere.

She messed it all up. Why is she calling me now? For what?, Christopher raised his voice, shouting at his friends as if they were the ones who asked Alexa to call him.
Christopher picked up his phone to call Alexa to know why she was calling especially at the wrong hour which he never thought she will call.

Yes, why did you call me before? I’m sure that you do not even know the gravity of what you just did, Christopher yells at his girlfriend. His friends thought he was being stingy but deep down, he didn’t even have enough money to pay for the food platter.

Babe, I didn’t know. My phone was inside my butt pocket so I think my butt was busy pressing my phone. You know I usually do not call out of the blues… the worst part of it was that she didn’t even know that her phone had dialed her man’s number which made Christopher more furious.

After Christopher checked his three bank accounts and saw that he didn’t have enough money to pay for the food platter, he then called on Alexa to send him some money since she’s the cause of what just happened.

Babe, you’ll have to send me thirty thousand Naira. I had a bet with my friends and I lost it because you call came through and I don’t have enough money to pay for the food, Christopher whispered but never knew his friends heard him and they burst into laughter.

It’s funny how you’re begging from the lady you just yelled at. I’m so lucky because you were so keen on wanting me to pay for the food but I won, Emmanuel said as he stood up and rejoicing for not paying for the food.

Immediately, Emmanuel’s girlfriend, Olivia’s call came through. That was so close but he was happy that Christopher got the call before him and he didn’t lose the game.
