Jellyfish Invasion

My family and I love a visit to the beach, here are some photos from our most recent beach day out in Spain back in February. It's good job we noticed the Jelly Fish and didn't go in swimming like we normally do.

That jelly fish looks like a beast. Good think you spotted it.

It's a bit odd growing up on the beaches of So. Cal and seeing this. It's something we never really had to worry about, just sharks. Here in Japan though there are all kinds of critters in the water that will ruin your day.

Ya there were a lot of beasts too, with tonnes of them in the water, only a few had ran aground..

I can imagine! The Japanese seem to have a great relationship with the sea though and eat lots of seafish from what I know, which is great. As an island country, you would expect Ireland to be the same and while we do eat fresh seafood, given that we are surrounded by water, you'd think we would eat more.

TBF Japan has a lot of reefs and shallow areas for all kinds of sea creatures to live and be eaten by humans. Aren't Ireland's coasts deep and full of cliffs? Check this out, we got tuna sushi from Ireland here a while back. It was really damn good quality too. https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@rt395/eating-maguro-sushi-from-ireland

Nice one man, love a bit of sushi myself, ya deep waters and cliffs off Ireland alright in fairness.

I know the word 'invasion' should give me a clue but is that numerous shots of one jellyfish or one shot of numerous jellyfish?

It's a bit of both, some of the Jellyfish are photographed a few times, there were only so many that washed up but there were tonnes in the water, so the swim I was planning had to be cancelled.

@phortun just showed me a real invasion he saw in Portugal before with Man O war fellyfish, now that's an invasion!!!

This is akin to Crocodile Dundee's: "That's not a knife, this is a knife"!

Ohhhhhhh, that must have been some dose, can only imagine the pain and not too pleasant walking around with a swollen face I can imagine.

That´s an interesting species, I think I haven´t seen it yet. When we lived on the Azores (Portugal), we often had like literally invasions of this jellyfish called the Portuguese Man O´ War. I cannot find the post that I wrote about them but here is the one that my girlfriend did...

https://hive.blog/animals/@liltammy/lots-of-deadly-portuguese-man-o-war-have-washed-up-beach-again-azores

Have you seen these too?

Holy shitballs!!!! Now that is an invasion, unreal!!! Kind of cool, but christ imagine getting stuck in between a few hundred of them, it would be the end of you, I'd say..

Actually, when they arrive in such amounts, it´s literally impossible to go in the water :) There are thousands of them (possibly millions) and their tentacles can reach up to 30 meters :D There is no way you could navigate through them...
